This is a four-month assignment with the possibility of extending up to 12 months. During that time, you will live independently in Cotonou within 5 miles of your work site. Your studio or one-bedroom apartment will have access to electricity and running water. Electricity costs are high, so air conditioning may not be available.

Design curriculum and lessons focused on English in diplomatic environments and technology and innovation fields, with a focus on artificial intelligence.
Develop engaging, practical lesson plans tailored to the professional needs of diplomats and technology professionals.
Teach English classes and provide individualized language support.
Identify opportunities to strengthen and sustain English language learning programs.
You may also work on additional projects that meet the community’s interests and priorities, such as organizing fitness clubs or an English language movie club.
After a two-week orientation on topics such as health and safety, you will begin work with Ministry partners, first assessing staff language levels, launching initial lessons, and working with Ministry officials to review and finalize curricula.
Peace Corps/Benin will equip you with French language resources, and you may work with a tutor who can help you build basic language skills to connect with the community.
Only heterosexual couples can be accepted for this program.
Couples who are selected for the same sector will live together but work with different local partners, which may be in the same community or in neighboring communities (not more than 30 minutes apart).
Couples will live together during training but may separate occasionally for field-based activities.
Each person must apply separately and must qualify for a position in either the same or a different sector than their partner.
