Job Purpose:

To execute day-to-day shop-floor Quality Control (QC) inspections across various stages of manufacturing, including material receiving, fabrication, weld visual, assembly, and testing. The QC Engineer ensures that all products meet approved engineering drawings, specifications, and Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) while maintaining accurate, real-time quality records and preventing defective items from progressing to subsequent production stages.

Job Responsibilities:

Stage-wise Shop-Floor Inspection:

  • Conduct stage-by-stage physical inspections including raw material verification, fit-up, root pass, final visual welding inspection, and dimensional tolerance checks.
  • Ensure all inspections strictly adhere to the approved engineering drawings, Quality Control Plans (QCP), and welding procedure specifications (WPS).

Material Verification & Traceability:

  • Verify incoming raw materials and bought-out items against Material Test Certificates (MTCs).
  • Ensure heat number traceability is maintained throughout the cutting, forming, and fabrication processes through proper hard stamping and transfer protocols.

ITP Execution & Traveller Sign-Off:

  • Execute the daily inspection load as directed by the PQM / QC Lead according to the established Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
  • Physically sign off and update manufacturing Travellers (routing cards) immediately upon the successful clearance of an inspection stage to allow production to proceed

Defect Identification & NCR Reporting:

  • Identify welding defects, dimensional deviations, or material non-conformances on the shop floor.
  • Immediately halt non-compliant work, alert the PQM / QC Lead, and assist in drafting Non- Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Verify the successful completion of required rework or weld repairs prior to clearing the item for the next stage.
  • Carry out periodic Quality Spot check.

Production & TPI Coordination Support:

  • Coordinate with production supervisors to ensure inspection readiness prior to calling the PQM/QC Lead or external inspectors.
  • Assist the PQM / QC Lead during witness and hold point inspections conducted by Client Representatives or Third-Party Inspection (TPI) agencies.

Concurrent Documentation & Reporting:

  • Draft accurate daily inspection reports, dimensional check sheets, visual inspection logs, and NDE requests concurrently with shop-floor activities.
  • Submit all completed and signed inspection reports to the QA/Document Control team daily to prevent backlog during final MDR compilation.
