About the role

We are seeking talent across two key career pathways to join our Open Cut and Quarry Technical team, supporting key customer operations across Western Australia, with roles based in Perth.

Senior Blasting Technicians
A hands-on role focused on the safe execution of blasting activities, product delivery, and on-site customer support. You’ll be the face of Orica on site, ensuring our technologies and products are delivered safely and effectively to achieve optimal blasting outcomes.

Technical Services Engineers
A technical and advisory role focused on designing, optimising, and delivering advanced blasting solutions and projects. You’ll work closely with customers and internal experts to solve complex challenges and drive improvements in blasting performance and productivity.

Working predominantly on an 8-hour Monday to Friday schedule with flexibility for occasional work-from-home arrangements, these positions combine both technical and site-based responsibilities, including intermittent travel (up to 50%) to customer mine sites.

What you will be doing

Senior Blasting Technician

  • Execute blasting activities safely and efficiently (shotfiring, charging, blast prep);
  • Deliver on-site product stewardship and ensure compliance with blasting systems;
  • Support customers through training and practical guidance in blasting solutions;
  • Build strong relationships with site teams and understand operational needs;
  • Support the implementation of new technologies (e.g. electronic or wireless systems);

Technical Services Engineer

  • Deliver advanced blasting design, optimisation, and technical consulting services;
  • Lead and support technical projects to improve blast performance and outcomes;
  • Provide drill & blast design support and system-level expertise;
  • Work with customers to troubleshoot complex blasting challenges;
  • Collaborate with global experts and internal stakeholders on innovation initiatives.

What you will bring

Senior Blasting Technician

  • Proven experience as a Shotfirer, Senior Shotfirer, or Charge-up Operator;
  • Strong hands-on experience in blasting operations and site delivery;
  • Strong safety mindset and customer-facing skills.

Technical Services Engineer

  • Background in Mining, Geology, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical/ Electronic Engineering;
  • Solid technical experience in drill and blast, preferably within varied sites and environments in Open Cut mining or Quarries;
  • Exposure to blast design systems and technologies;
  • Ability to engage with customers at a technical and advisory level.
