Context & Environment

The Île-de-France Photovoltaic Institute (IPVF), is an institute for the energy transition created in 2013. It is a scientific and technical center dedicated to the research and development of solar technologies. Located on Paris-Saclay campus, it brings together its own staff, employees of its partners, and those of external companies. These companies are TotalEnergies, EDF, Horiba, Air Liquide, Riber, le CNRS, et l’école Polytechnique. The IPVF aims to become one of the world's leading centers for research, innovation, and training in the field of energy transition

The IPVF's primary objective is to improve the performance and competitiveness of photovoltaic cells and to develop breakthrough technologies by leveraging four key drivers:

• An ambitious research program;

• Hosting 150 researchers and their laboratories on Paris-Saclay campus

• A cutting-edge technological platform (8,000 m²) open to stakeholders in the photovoltaic industry, and housing more than 100 state-of-the-art equipment units housed in clean rooms.

• A training program mainly based on a master's degree, supervision of doctoral students, and continuing education

The responsibilities of this position are aligned with the IPVF's objective of providing key information on the photovoltaic technology market. More specifically, the associated projects aim to strengthen the IPVF's knowledge and strategic positioning in terms of energy performance, techno-economic analysis, environmental assessment, and the continuous advancement of photovoltaic technologies. The results enable the IPVF to dynamically adjust its roadmap by focusing on the most relevant solutions. This allows the IPVF to provide its partners with up-to-date insights for informed decision-making. Studies may be conducted to enhance the IPVF's expertise, for example, at the request of other programs. Other studies are also carried out within the framework of consortium projects (European projects, etc.) or as part of internal IPVF industrial development programs, in close collaboration with the Partnerships Department.

Activities

Main missions :

• Conduct PV market research, such as mapping PV stakeholders and monitoring developments, taking into account associated application sectors and their size.

• Perform energy yield assessments of PV power plants based on modeling and simulations.

• Analyze various PV structure designs and provide information on performance optimization.

• Conduct techno-economic analyses and technology cost calculations (CoO, LCOE, ROI, etc.) for different PV technologies.

• Collaborate with team members to refine modeling, optimize studies, and leverage diverse expertise.

• Collaborate with partners from various projects through consortia.

• Publish results in reputable journals and participate in conferences/workshops, etc. and contribute to reporting.
