Job Description

We have 2 immediate start opportunities available within our Advanced Technology Team. The role is a 1 year opportunity to gain invaluable experience in a top of the range Engineering Technology centre.

Advanced Technology

In Advanced Technology, our mission is to help Mercedes & AMG be the technology leader in electric drives, in terms of performance, efficiency and sustainability.

The Engineering opportunities are within either one of the two departments below:

  • Mechanical Engineering: You can be responsible for the design of components and/or systems from concept, through prove-out that enhance the future performance, efficiency and sustainability of fully electric prototype powertrains.
  • Development Engineering: Model the powertrain to assist in its definition and optimization in areas that will yield an improvement in efficiency, performance or customer satisfaction. Facilitate the validation of the product on our test facilities.

What do we need from you?

  • A curious, tenacious and driven individual with a hunger to work in a fast paced environment
  • Already achieved a 2.1 degree, or above, in a relevant Mechanical / Automotive / Mechatronics / Motorsport / Aeronautical or related degree e.g. Science or Maths
  • A strong academic background in relevant A-Level, or equivalent disciplines, for example Maths or Sciences
  • An excellent understanding of engineering first principles
  • Practical, “hands-on” experience to complement your academic studies
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivation, adaptability and creativity
  • The courage to challenge and desire to be challenged, to expand your technical knowledge and skills

Based in Brixworth Northamptonshire at a purpose built Mercedes-Benz Technology centre we are a highly talented, professional and ambitious team of people, responsible for the design, manufacture, testing and racing of Formula 1 power units for Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS, McLaren, Williams and Aston Martin.

Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains also undertake advanced, high technology projects in order to transfer F1 technologies into mainstream automotive and high performance road cars. The most significant programme at present is the design, manufacture and testing of a hypercar power unit for the Mercedes-AMG Project One vehicle.

These traits have seen the Mercedes-Benz Formula 1 Turbo Hybrid Power Units to achieve consecutive F1 World Drivers Championships from 2014 to 2020, securing a record breaking eight consecutive Constructors’ Championships.
