Job Description

Are you an organized and detail‑oriented professional with a passion for safeguarding the integrity of critical systems? Are you ready to take on a role where your expertise will make a critical impact? We are seeking a motivated, skilled, and experienced Senior Engineering Technician to oversee complex operational systems, lead troubleshooting efforts, guide and mentor a team of technicians, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This role will require strong leadership abilities such as coordinating team workflows, providing hands‑on coaching, fostering a collaborative environment, and ensuring adherence to best practices and standards. The ideal candidate will bring advanced technical expertise, proven leadership strengths, and a proactive approach to maintaining optimal system performance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the installation, support, and maintenance of communication circuits while ensuring technicians follow established standards and safety practices.
  • Oversee and perform technical analyses of hardware, network components, and transmission facilities using diagnostic tools to support reliable and efficient network operations.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to implement system upgrades and projects.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues related to VoIP services, network integrity, and PC hardware/software, while guiding technicians through advanced troubleshooting steps.
  • Apply existing knowledge and proactively expand technical expertise related to organizational systems, client environments, and operational processes; coach team members to do the same.
  • Manage and resolve work orders and change request for Cable Plant, Network, and VoIP issues, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results from the technician team.
  • Lead the team in solving a range of routine and moderately complex problems by applying technical judgment, experience, and industry best practices.
  • Mentor and support junior technicians, providing technical guidance and training.
  • Review and analyze potential solutions using established procedures, providing directions to technicians on optimal approaches and reinforcing consistent troubleshooting methods.
  • Provide clear guidance and moderate oversight to ensure tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with organizational expectations.
  • Promote a culture of quality by impacting not only on your own work, but also the performance and development of the broader technician team.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and effectively to technicians, stakeholders, and end users in straightforward and understandable terms.

Basic Qualifications

  • Requires High School Diploma with 10 or more years of relevant experience
  • Must have the ability to obtain Public Trust clearance
  • Experience troubleshooting complex routing and switching issues, configuring switches, routers, network appliances and WAN devices.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. for up to 100 feet at a time; must be able to lift 25 lbs. vertically using ladders
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, such as raised floors or communications closets; must be able to work in noisy environments, such as data centers and operations centers; must be able to stand or sit for 8 hours at a time

Preferred Qualifications

  • BICSI Certification
  • CCNA or other Networking Certification
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Self-motivated/ self-directing
  • Strong collaboration, prioritization, and adaptability skills required. Relationship building
  • Ability to manage and prioritize own work, and that of their team
  • Independent decision making
  • Analytical thinking; thinking out of the box
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all organizational levels (SME to Senior management)
  • Ability to analyze problems at various levels

Typical hourly range for position: $45.00/hour - $52.00/hour. Salary to be determined by applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, internal equity, market data, and contractual requirements.
