Job Description

Engineering Technician- Supportability

As an Engineering Technician (Supportability) – Supply Support, you will contribute to the development and optimisation of inventory, supply support and ILS activities that underpin cost‑effective materiel solutions across defence programs. Working with guidance, you will build technical capability while supporting the delivery of accurate data, analysis and documentation that strengthens asset availability and sustainment outcomes.

  • Build Supply Support Expertise through hands‑on inventory development, spares modelling and codification activities.
  • Support Critical ILS Outcomes by contributing to maintenance analysis, life cycle costing and technical publications.
  • Grow Your Technical Career while working within a high‑performing engineering team committed to continuous improvement.

About You

You are an early‑career technical professional with a growing interest in supply support, logistics engineering and the sustainment of complex systems. You bring foundational knowledge of engineering principles and a developing understanding of supply chain environments, inventory management and ILS processes. You are comfortable working with guidance while taking responsibility for your own tasks, and you are motivated to build deeper capability in areas such as spares determination, codification, obsolescence management and optimisation modelling. You communicate clearly, contribute positively to team discussions and are eager to understand how technical decisions influence broader project outcomes.

You take pride in producing accurate documentation, maintaining reliable records and applying procedures and standards correctly. You understand the importance of product safety, compliance and disciplined engineering practice, and you approach your work with curiosity, diligence and a willingness to learn. You value collaboration, enjoy contributing to process improvements and are committed to developing your skills through continuous professional development. Experience with MILIS, codification systems or engineering toolsets is beneficial, and you are ready to grow your capability within a supportive and technically focused environment.

About the Role

As an Engineering Technician (Supportability) – Supply Support, you will support the development, management and analysis of inventory and supply support activities across the engineering lifecycle. You will assist in determining spares, S&TE requirements, provisioning, stock assessments, codification and cataloguing, while contributing to the identification of packaging, handling, stowage and transport needs. You will help conduct spares optimisation modelling, support obsolescence and disposal activities, and contribute to trade‑off analysis that informs equipment design and sustainment decisions.

You will also provide inputs into broader ILS activities, including maintenance and operating task analysis, life cycle cost assessments, planned maintenance documentation and technical publications. You will contribute to technical investigations, produce documentation under guidance, maintain accurate records and support technical reviews with internal and external stakeholders. You will apply engineering procedures and standards, contribute to risk assessments and support the development of engineering processes and business artefacts. Throughout your work, you will uphold safety, trade control and compliance requirements, contribute to continuous improvement and embody Babcock’s principles in all aspects of your role.
