As part of that team we are looking for 4 motivated shift technical fitters to monitor and drive quality maintenance practices, support technical investigations, carry out In process evaluations (IPES) and support their shift with technical knowledge. The position is based at our depot in Crewe working a 4 on 4 24/7 shift pattern. The successful candidates will report to the Technical Engineers who then report to the technical engineering manage with the whole team responsible for quality and remote condition monitoring The position also forms part of our 1st line response roster.On your first day, we’ll expect you to have:·Commitment to developing safe working practices.·In depth knowledge and experience of locomotive or train maintenance.·Ability to drive Continuous Improvement to ensure we achieve our targets and standardise our processes across our depots.·A drive to continually improve our maintenance standardsWhat your main areas of responsibilities will be: ·Being a safety influencer by ensuring you and your team work safely at all times whilst always looking for opportunities to do things safer and more efficiently. ·Provide quality workmanship by performing maintenance and repairs on company assets, ensuring work is carried out to the highest standards and coaching team members to this standard.·Carry out regular IPES to continual improve engineering and production standards·Support investigations into incidents, failures, and defects.·Support the development of fault-finding guides for Maintenance to help reduce locomotive downtime.·Influence reliability improvements by analysing RCM data trends and collaborating with the Engineering function.·Own the Engineering helpline by supporting drivers with technical issues·Respond to engineering events outside of the depot whilst on shift.
