The Engineering Technician supports the development and introduction of Infant Care products, including incubators and warmers. This is a highly hands-on role responsible for building prototypes, troubleshooting technical issues, conducting product testing, maintaining lab equipment, and supporting engineering teams as products move from development into production.

The ideal candidate enjoys solving technical problems, working with tools and test equipment, and collaborating with engineers to bring new technologies to market. This role works closely with systems, mechanical, electrical, software, manufacturing, quality, and service teams to improve product performance and ensure safe, effective solutions for caregivers and patients.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

• Support new product introduction (NPI) activities for Infant Care products, including prototype builds, product evaluations, testing, and manufacturing readiness activities.
• Build, modify, and evaluate prototypes, fixtures, test setups, and engineering models using drawings, schematics, specifications, and work instructions.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and system-level issues using a structured approach to identify root causes and support problem resolution.
• Set up and operate test equipment, diagnostic tools, measurement devices, and data collection systems to support engineering testing activities.
• Prepare products, equipment, and test setups for engineering and verification testing.
• Execute product tests and experiments, collect data, document results, and communicate findings to engineering teams.
• Support engineering lab operations, including equipment maintenance, calibration coordination, inventory organization, and ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
• Partner with engineering, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, service, and supply chain teams to identify issues and improve product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability.
• Support documentation updates, issue investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Provide technical support during prototype builds, pilot builds, and product launch activities.
• Communicate technical findings through written reports, documentation, and team discussions.
• Work independently with limited direction while using good judgment, initiative, and a strong technical curiosity to support project milestones.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, Mechanical Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology, or a related technical field; OR High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of relevant technical experience.
• Ability to work onsite five (5) days per week in Waukesha, WI.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical systems.
• Strong hands-on experience working with tools, test equipment, measurement devices, and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, work instructions, and technical documentation.
• Experience collecting and documenting test data, observations, and technical findings.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and compliance.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment with changing priorities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate using the local language.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Technology, Mechanical Technology, or a related field.
• Experience working in a medical device, electronics, manufacturing, laboratory, service, or engineering environment.
• Experience supporting prototype builds, pilot builds, product testing, validation, or new product introductions.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical systems, wiring, sensors, controls, or circuit board assemblies.
• Experience with calibration, maintenance, or validation of laboratory and test equipment.
• Familiarity with root cause analysis, continuous improvement, Lean tools, or problem-solving methodologies.
• Experience working in a regulated or quality-focused environment.
• Familiarity with GE HealthCare products, processes, or quality systems.
• Current or previous GE HealthCare employee.
