Examples of duties

This position supports construction inspection activities through measurements, documentation, and communication with project staff. As an Engineering Technician, you will perform the following duties:

• Project Inspection: Participate in inspections of construction materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with standards
• Checklist Development: Create detailed checklists by researching contract items, manuals, and related standards
• Documentation Review: Record project information manually or electronically and enter daily data into required systems
• Technical Calculations: Complete measurements, estimates, sketches, and calculations to support project accuracy
• Material Monitoring: Observe placement of materials such as concrete, bituminous mixtures, and drainage components
• Team Communication: Work with staff, agencies, legislators, and the public to support effective project administration

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in King of Prussia. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,506.00 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements:

• This particular position also requires possession of a valid Class C Driver's License.
