Job Description
Proactively address process and machine improvements to maintain and improve productivity, reduce scrap, reduce cost and improve equipment reliability. Responsible for production safety, efficiency and quality. Performs a wide variety of duties to support high-speed manufacturing in troubleshooting and repairing assembly equipment. Leads and assists with projects involving design, fabrication, and modification and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical devices and parts.
- Troubleshoots and repairs electrical, electronic, pneumatic and mechanical components of high-speed production equipment. Repairs and/or rebuilds spare parts for production equipment.
- Upgrades electrical and electronic controls on production equipment, including design, fabrication, installation, and programming and addresses machine improvements as part of the process.
- Reviews processes for approval and initiates process improvements. Documents processes and procedures for maintenance and machine instructions.
- Overhauls machinery to original operating condition and works with Engineering team in the design of new equipment or upgrades to current equipment. Assembles, installs, and debugs machinery built in-house.
- Supplies detailed purchasing requests for necessary repair parts and Engineering projects.
- Designs/builds test and training equipment for electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic devices, and writes operational/troubleshooting manuals. Develops and delivers training programs/material to new and existing mechanics.
- Uses maintenance management software and computer to define PM requirements for production.
- Prioritizes and develops schedules for assigned projects and daily activities, tracks timely completion against objectives.
- Ships and receives U.S. and international component parts. Develops and enters maintenance tasks and work orders into SAP.
- Provides technical support in root cause failure analysis for significant production and support system issues and investigations.
Education:
Minimum Associate’s Degree and/or technical certification from accredited technical program. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and/or Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering preferred (or equivalent work experience as deemed acceptable).
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3-5 years hands on packaging / assembly equipment experience with strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to lead a small group on project assignments.
- Must possess good organizational, communication, interpersonal and project planning skills.
- Must be able to work with a high degree of initiative and minimal supervision.
- Must be willing to be certified and operate a forklift.
- Must be willing to work outside normal business hours to communicate with international resources and vendors and to support the manufacturing floor.
- Must be able to read, understand and troubleshoot electrical schematics, blueprint drawings, PLC RLL and create PLC programs (Siemens, Allen Bradley).
- Must be able to use a DMM for electrical troubleshooting and potential energy verification.
- Must have advanced knowledge of electrical, pneumatic and mechanical systems and be able to read/interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Must have good vision to perform visual inspection duties and be able to discern shades of color and color differences relating to component parts used in the manufacturing process.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally throughout the shift.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk continuously throughout the shift.
- Must be able to squat, kneel, climb, crawl, drive, reach above shoulders, twist/bend, and climb steps.
- Must be able to hear warning signals/verbal alerts to avoid injury during manufacturing process.
- Must possess advanced math and PC skills.
- Working SAP experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing practices, 5S, Hazard and Risk Management Systems, BRC standards and requirements to support the organization’s ISO and BRC processes and OHSA regulations preferred.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the pay range for this position is: Up to $45.00/hour plus any applicable shift differential.
