SUMMARY Engineering Technician is responsible for producing, testing, and operating prototype machinery. Designs and builds weld fixtures and assembly equipment, helps improve production welding and assembly issues as needed. Suggests improvements to current production models or prototypes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creates prototype and/or new parts for existing machines.
- Perform tests on various machines.
- Documents and records, test reports and any and all changes to the machines.
- Follow through machine production with the following departments: Machine Shop, Welding, and Assembly and other departments as needed.
- Organizes and inspects parts for Engineering.
- Travel may be required up to 25% of the time.
SUPERVISORY REPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee is subject to work with or around dangerous equipment which may include the operation and testing of machines.
This position may occasionally require irregular hours of nights or weekends for business travel or to complete a project. Travel may be on short notice.

QualificationsEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School Diploma and 2-3 years of mechanical experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION Forklift Operators Certificate
COMMUNICATION SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Demonstration of good oral and written communication skills to customers and employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
COMPUTER SKILLS Computer literate and the ability to operate a digital camera and video camera.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS Ability to operate tools including, but not limited to: plasma cutter, general machine shop tools, electric testers, welding equipment. Ability to operate welding equipment is preferred and/or the capability to learn or improve welding skills. Ability and knowledge in the areas of hydraulic and electrical systems including trouble shooting. Ability to test products for functions and operation level limits. Ability to assemble/operate company products.
