Position Summary:
The Engineering Technician supports the Video Engineering team with development, deployment, validation, and sustainment of video recording devices and associated management systems used in public safety environments.  The ideal candidate possesses fundamental IT and networking knowledge, analytical and troubleshooting skills, and the aptitude to grow into broader systems engineering responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Configure and validate video recording devices and backend management systems.
- Deploy, test, and troubleshoot products and systems in Windows and Linux environments.
- Support network configuration and connectivity troubleshooting in lab and field environments.
- Assist in diagnosing system-level issues involving hardware, firmware, software, and infrastructure.
- Support creation and maintenance of test cases, configuration guides, validation reports, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Perform functional, regression, performance, environmental, and integration testing.
- Analyze system logs, performance metrics, and capture data to identify defects.
- Document findings clearly and provide actionable feedback to engineering teams.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software engineers to validate new features and releases.
- Assist with prototype configuration, system bring-up, and integration testing.
- Utilize project management and documentation tools (e.g., Atlassian suite or similar platforms).
- Perform duties as assigned by Supervisor/Manager.

Working Conditions:
- Primarily office and lab environment conditions.
- May occasionally require travel to customer sites or field test locations.

QualificationsEducation &

Experience:
- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, or related field; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 1 year of experience in a technical role; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working in lab, production, or system integration environments is desired.
Skills:
- Understanding basics of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, routing, and subnetting.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting wired and wireless networks.
- Familiarity with VPN connectivity and remote access configurations is desired.
- Proficient working in Windows desktop and server environments.
- Working knowledge of Linux systems (CLI navigation, log review, service management) is desired.
- Analytical and structured troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to understand and execute instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and system architecture diagrams.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Prototype circuit board handling and soldering/de-soldering experience is desired.
