Receives oral instructions, rough sketches or written memos; determines needs and obtains necessary equipment, tools and materials; assemblies and wires complex equipment following most economical and practical methods of manufacturing and design; fabricates complex parts, components and sub-assemblies using hand and machine tools; constructs experimental laboratory test set-ups as required; conducts physical and electrical tests based on specific performance requirements determined by discussion with or instructions from supervisor or engineer.
Compares and summarizes data obtained with established standards and indicates deviations; submits data and reports on practical aspects of tests to supervisor or engineer.
Modifies test and other laboratory equipment as required.
Evaluates and makes recommendations or suggestions for improvements to equipment, components or procedures as necessary.
