Engineering Team Leader | Protection – Perth CBD – Permanent Full Time

We are seeking an Engineering Team Leader to lead a highly skilled team of Protection specialists delivering critical engineering outcomes across Western Australia's transmission network. This opportunity suits a people-focused leader, or an experienced engineer ready to grow into leadership, who is passionate about developing others, building capability and fostering a high-performing team culture.

Leading a team of experienced specialists, you will develop capability and guide the delivery of critical protection programs supporting the reliability and future growth of Western Australia's network.

Whether you already lead an engineering team or are an experienced Lead or Principal Engineer with the drive and enthusiasm to develop as a people leader, we would love to hear from you.

Your Role in Action  

• Inspire, coach and develop a team of engineering professionals, supporting performance, capability development and career growth.
• Create a positive, inclusive and high-performing team culture built on collaboration, trust and continuous improvement.
• Oversee the planning, coordination and delivery of protection engineering services across transmission and distribution projects.
• Ensure the team delivers safe, reliable and cost-effective engineering outcomes that meet regulatory and operational requirements.
• Provide leadership across protection engineering activities, including system studies, design, settings and applications.
• Drive quality assurance and continuous improvement across engineering standards, templates, processes and methodologies.
• Build strong relationships across the business to align priorities, manage delivery risks and support successful project outcomes.
• Support effective risk management and decision-making across complex engineering programs.
• Contribute to protection projects and programs that strengthen the reliability, resilience and future capability of Western Australia's transmission network.

What Makes You a Great Fit 

• Degree in Electrical Engineering and eligibility for membership with Engineers Australia.
• Experience in protection engineering across transmission networks is highly regarded.
• Sound knowledge of Protection systems, fault studies, protection settings and associated regulatory requirements, or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge.
• Leadership potential and a genuine desire to coach, mentor and develop a high-performing team.
• The ability to build trusted relationships and influence outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, people-focused approach.
• A commitment to safety, continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
