Hydrasearch is seeking an Engineering Systems Specialist to lead the development and administration of the tools, standards, and workflows that drive our engineering excellence.
This is a critical, high-impact role designed for a professional with a "systems-thinking" mindset. You will oversee our Product Data Management (PDM) systems, maintain rigorous GD&T and drawing standards, and ensure our technical data remains compliant with CUI, ITAR, and CMMC regulations. As Hydrasearch expands, you will have the unique opportunity to scale our engineering systems, acting as the bridge between Engineering, IT, Quality, and Compliance.
About Us: Hydrasearch is a U.S. manufacturer specializing in fluid-transfer and control systems for maritime, aerospace, and defense applications. Since its founding in 1962, Hydrasearch has developed capabilities in hose assemblies, valve fittings, and customer machined parts, often to meet MIL-SPEC and naval standards.
At Hydrasearch, we value the contributions of our Military Veterans and proudly employ our nation’s heroes. Veterans are strongly encouraged to apply.
What You'll Do:
Systems Administration & Data Management
PDM Leadership: Administer and support Product Data Management (PDM) systems, including user permissions, vault structure, and automated workflow support.
Configuration Control: Maintain the integrity of the drawing vault, managing file organization and strict revision management practices.
IT & Security Integration: Coordinate with IT on system reliability, cybersecurity controls, and the handling of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and export-controlled data.
Standards & Documentation Excellence
Drafting Standards: Maintain and enforce company drawing standards (formats, title blocks, and naming conventions) consistent with ASME Y14.5 (GD&T)
Process Improvement: Optimize the ECR/ECO (Engineering Change) process to improve throughput and accuracy.
Templates & Forms: Develop standardized engineering templates and forms to ensure traceability and consistency across all projects.
Training & Mentorship
Onboarding: Lead the technical onboarding for new engineers and drafters regarding systems, workflows, and data handling.
Support: Act as the internal Subject Matter Expert (SME) for PDM troubleshooting and design standard interpretation.
What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field (equivalent technical experience will be considered).
Experience: 4–8 years supporting engineering organizations, specifically in CAD/PDM administration, design documentation, or configuration management.
Environment: Proven experience in regulated industries (Aerospace, Defense, or Naval Systems) handling controlled technical data.
Preferred Qualifications
Systems: Expert-level knowledge of SolidWorks PDM, Teamcenter, or similar PLM/PDM suites.
Standards: Deep understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T and engineering revision control.
Compliance: Familiarity with CUI, ITAR, CMMC, and export control data handling practices.
Process: Experience managing ECR/ECO workflows and integrating PDM with ERP systems.
