Job Description

The Engineering Specialist is responsible as local technical lead in providing engineering support and technical leadership for Holtec Taiwan's spent nuclear fuel (SNF) dry storage projects and other nuclear energy initiatives. This position serves as a key technical liaison between Holtec and local stakeholders in Taiwan, including regulatory authorities, government agencies, utility customers, local communities, engineering partners, and subcontractors.

Location: Taipei, Taiwan

Technical Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as the primary technical interface between Holtec and local stakeholders in Taiwan.
  • Support technical communications and meetings with:
  • Nuclear regulatory authorities.
  • Central and local government agencies.
  • Taiwan Power Company (TPC)
  • Local communities and public stakeholders.
  • Engineering consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Explain technical concepts, design decisions, and project status to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Coordinate responses to technical inquiries from regulators, customers, and project stakeholders.
  • Support stakeholder engagement activities and public outreach programs as required.

Local Requirements Integration and Compliance

  • Review and evaluate Holtec designs against Taiwan regulatory requirements, codes, standards, and utility specifications.
  • Identify and resolve gaps between Holtec design practices and local regulatory or project requirements.
  • Work closely with Holtec engineering teams to incorporate Taiwan-specific requirements into project designs and documentation.
  • Support regulatory licensing, permitting, and approval activities.
  • Provide technical recommendations to ensure compliance while maintaining design integrity and project objectives.
  • Monitor regulatory and industry developments that may impact project execution.
  • Design Modification Package
  • Lead the coordination and preparation of design change packages for ongoing projects.
  • Interface with customers, regulators, subcontractors, and corporate engineering teams regarding proposed design modification packages.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering reviews and approval processes.
  • Ensure design modification packages comply with applicable regulations, quality assurance requirements, and project specifications.

Project Engineering Support

  • Provide engineering support for Chinshan (N1) and Kuosheng (N2) SNF Dry Storage Projects and future projects in Taiwan.
  • Review technical reports, drawings, specifications, calculations, and engineering deliverables.
  • Participate in design reviews, project meetings, site visits, and technical evaluations.
  • Support resolution of engineering and construction-related issues.
  • Assist project managers in identifying and mitigating technical risks.
