Westlake Pipe & Fittings is looking for 1 Engineering (Mechanical or Process) student to join our team for the summer. This is a great opportunity to work closely with Maintenance Team as well as other senior level employees. This positions main responsibility will be managing spare parts inventory, data entry and support additional responsibilities as assigned by the Maintenance Superintendent. This is for a Junior Engineering Student. This role is reporting directly to the Maintenance Superintendent.

Range of Hourly Rate $23-$25

Key Responsibilities;

  • Assist Maintenance Department by identifying spare parts
  • Enter parts data in MDG system to build online inventory
  • Build organization system for parts room locations, shelves and bin locations
  • Work on various design and operation improvement projects
  • Engage various internal and external stakeholders and team members in completion of capital projects

Qualifications, Education & Experience;

  • Working towards a degree as a Mechanical Engineer from a reputable Canadian University
  • Will complete 1st or 2nd year of engineering as of May 2026
  • Must have a Valid BC Drivers License


OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • Participate and/or cooperate with the JHSC to improve safety.
  • Perform housekeeping activities as required.
  • Comply with WorkSafe BC and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
  • Comply with Health and Safety rules, policies and procedures of the division.

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS

  • Ensure own conduct and that of direct reports is in accordance with NAPCO Code of Business Ethics and the Workplace Discrimination/Harassment Policy
  • Communicate with employees, plant and supervisory staff as required.
  • Build participative working relationships with plant and management personnel.
  • Comply with company rules, regulations and policies as stated in the Employee Relations Manual and/or Employee Handbook.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or lift up to 50lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position has a transitioning work environment. Office/computer, manufacturing plant and outdoor environments are normal. The noise level in the plant environment is usually high, as normal for a manufacturing plant. Some of the work in the operating units may require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, fall protection, hard hats, etc.
