Responsibilities

Responsible to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the hotel's power plant including boilers, chillers, air compressors, and related equipment in order to supply heat, air conditioning, steam, water, and related mechanical services in sufficient quantities to meet the hotel's needs.

Examples of Duties, includes but is not limited to the following

  • Visually inspect, operate, maintain, and repair HVAC equipment in the power plant and mechanical equipment rooms throughout the facility.
  • Operate fan systems and maintain temperature controls.
  • Disassemble and reassemble equipment associated with HVAC trade using various tools and equipment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on all HVAC equipment according to manufacturer's guidelines and recommendations.
  • Monitor, maintain, and test life safety systems as required to comply with local fire codes.
  • Maintain standpipe, sprinkler, and interior fire alarm systems.
  • Monitor and inspect HVAC equipment on a routine basis.
  • Record utility meter readings.
  • Make emergency repairs to plumbing, kitchen, and other building structure when necessary.
  • Monitor and treat water systems.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    • Knowledge of reducing stations, chiller, and boiler operations. Knowledge of building mechanical systems such as water distribution, steam supply, pressure reducing stations, and chiller and boiler operation.
    • Knowledge of HVAC systems including repair and maintenance and basic electric and plumbing skills.
    • Knowledge of OSHA standards and application.
    • Knowledge of local fire codes, standpipe, sprinkler, and interior fire alarm systems.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
    • Minimum of three years relevant experience preferred.
    • High school education or equivalent. Trade apprenticeship preferred.
