
This person will be a member of an engineering team focused on the development and testing of windows, doors, related accessories, and materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate the “Pella Total Competitiveness System” through projects associated with growth, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
Work with engineering teams to develop evaluation plans that will thoroughly test products and materials and provide meaningful information.
Read and understand test methods (ASTM, AAMA, Etc.). Influence industry standards by providing feedback where tests could be improved.
Lead the industry in testing technology, methodology, and science.Collaborate with others in the improvement of existing standards and the development of new standards.
Facilitate product development. Serve our customers by creating a place where designs can be prototyped and tested.
Both learn and teach others to operate a wide variety of test and prototyping equipment within the lab and across the company.
Validate product quality, design and manufacturing repeatability through testing.
Understand perceived quality from a customer point of view.
Support research and testing to ultimately enable high-performance product design work.
Communicate with internal (product engineering, sales, marketing, etc.) and external customers (builders, architects, etc.) and guide tours of the Design Assurance Lab.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred; and six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
