Job Description

Serves as Project Construction Field Superintendent to effectively coordinate construction activities. Maintains direct daily contact with contractor representatives, foreman, and hospital staff affected by construction.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists Construction Manager in developing and implementing construction procedures, construction documents, standards, etc.
  • Collaborates to create job schedules and ensure ongoing compliance during construction phase of projects. Reviews manpower requirements and productivity relative to meeting current job progress schedules, follow-up for timely delivery of materials to meet established schedules. Produces daily logs of projects.
  • Assures compliance with hospital policies related to or impacted by construction activities.
  • Coordinates project work with hospital operations to effectively maintain job progress, negotiates the impact of construction, and promotes safety in occupied areas.
  • Performs jobsite inspections to assure code compliance and quality control using project specifications, drawings, and applicable codes. Creates lists to correct deficient work.
  • Researches and coordinates hospital MEP system outages and tie-ins. Assists with coordination of utility outages or shutdowns to ensure that there are no disruptions to critical care functions.
  • Manages and ensures successful sign off on City or State inspections for all phases of construction.

Education Requirement:

Associate's Degree in related construction field, or equivalent work experience, required.

  • Excellent customer services skills and client-relationship development skills.
  • Leadership skills and an ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and construction schedules.
  • Working knowledge of contract documents, drawings and specifications, change procedures, construction and engineering principles.

Experience:

Eight years of building construction experience, or equivalent education, required.
