The Engineering Procurement Specialist leads strategic sourcing and procurement for upcoming engineering, automation, and infrastructure projects. This role partners directly with project and process engineers to translate technical specifications into actionable sourcing strategies, evaluate and qualify equipment vendors, negotiate commercial terms, and actively drive Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) cost optimization and delivery schedules without sacrificing performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned, as necessary.

CAPEX Sourcing & Strategy (25%)

  • Partner with engineers during early design and project planning phases to forecast equipment, tooling, and fabrication needs.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies across major capital projects (e.g., automated manufacturing systems, process equipment, bulk material storage, facilities expansion).
  • Build and maintain a qualified, resilient vendor database across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and specialized fabrication categories.

Bidding & RFP Management (25%)

  • Translate engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and scopes of work (SOWs) into detailed RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs.
  • Facilitate structured bid evaluations, conducting total cost of ownership (TCO) and should-cost analyses alongside technical stakeholders.

Contract Negotiation & Cost Reduction (25%)

  • Negotiate pricing, payment milestones, warranties, liquidated damages, intellectual property clauses, and master service agreements (MSAs).
  • Identify value engineering opportunities, standardization options, and volume synergies across multiple capital projects to lower total CAPEX.
  • Manage change-order negotiations during installation and commissioning phases to prevent scope creep and budget overruns.

Supplier Performance & Project Execution (25%)

  • Conduct vendor capacity and risk assessments (lead times, financial health, quality certifications).
  • Track factory acceptance testing (FAT), lead-time milestones, and logistics to ensure on-time site delivery.
  • Serve as the primary commercial point of contact between external OEMs/contractors and internal project teams.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical/business field.

Specialized Skills and Experience:

  • 3–7 years of strategic procurement, sourcing, or subcontracts management specifically handling CAPEX, heavy machinery, automated equipment, or engineered-to-order (ETO) systems.
  • Self-starter, able to work alone with limited supervision.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, process flow diagrams (PFDs/P&IDs), and technical specifications.
  • Proven track record of closing six- to seven-figure capital equipment contracts and achieving measurable cost savings.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP platforms, project management software, and advanced Excel/cost-modeling tools.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized in scheduling, executing responsibilities and prioritizing in a multitask environment.
  • Team player - maintain a positive, cooperative attitude with all employees of LATICRETE and all customers.

Travel Requirement:

  • Up to 25% (domestic and international).
  • Must have or be able to obtain a passport.
