The Assystem Safety & Risk business unit has over 20 years’ experience, delivering bespoke, high-quality safety, risk, and reliability consultancy services to high-hazard industries. We help our clients to minimise risk, delivering improved safety and security and fostering a nuclear safety and risk aware culture. Assystem Safety & Risk delivers an integrated and cost-effective service that includes Safety Case, Human & Organisational Factors (HOF), Risk & Reliability (Including Probabilistic Safety Assessment), Security & Resilience, and Process Safety.

We use deterministic and probabilistic techniques to help our clients to assess the risk associated with facilities and activities and confirm that risks are reduced to a level that is As Low as Reasonably Practicable (ALARP).

Engineering Manager / Team Lead – WTP, STP, ETP

Location: Bengaluru / Delhi

Lead design, engineering, and delivery of water & wastewater treatment projects (STP, ETP, WTP, RO, UF/MF, desalination, pumping stations, water supply/distribution, reclaimed water). Manage multidisciplinary teams, ensure technical excellence, and deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Direct detailed design for treatment plants, pumping stations, sludge systems, and water networks. Ensure compliance with codes/standards.

  • Project Management: Oversee feasibility to commissioning, manage budgets, schedules, risks, and coordinate with procurement, construction, and commissioning teams.

  • Process Engineering: Lead hydraulic/process calculations, simulations, equipment sizing, and treatment technology selection (ASP, MBBR, SBR, MBR, RO, UV, chlorination).

  • Team Leadership: Mentor engineers, manage resources, support recruitment, and foster innovation.

  • Client Engagement: Act as primary technical contact, present solutions, manage expectations, and build long-term relationships.

  • Construction & Commissioning Support: Review vendor submissions, resolve technical issues, support plant startup and handover.

  • Quality & Compliance: Implement QA/QC, ensure environmental, health & safety compliance.

  • Business Development: Prepare proposals, bids, budgets, and contribute to strategic growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Civil/Environmental/Chemical/Water Engineering (Master’s preferred).

  • 12–18 years in water/wastewater projects; 5+ years in leadership.

  • Proven experience in STP, ETP, WTP, pumping stations, municipal & industrial water systems.

  • Strong process, mechanical, electrical & instrumentation knowledge.

Reports to: GM/Director – Water Infrastructure, Business Unit Head Direct reports: Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil Engineers, CAD/BIM Designers, Project & Commissioning Engineers

Qualifications

Bachelor’s in Civil/Environmental/Chemical/Water Engineering (Master’s preferred).
