
What We're Looking For: Barge Design Solutions is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineering Manager for our Nashville or Chattanooga office. This role combines technical project delivery with engineering team leadership. Engineering Managers serve as technical design leaders on water and wastewater projects, applying their professional engineering expertise to deliver high-quality technical work, guide design teams, and provide discipline leadership on complex assignments.In addition to project responsibilities, Engineering Managers lead and develop a local team of Engineering Associates and early-career Professional Engineers. Working closely with Project Managers and other Engineering Managers, they coordinate the assignment of technical resources to projects, balance workload demands, support employee development, and help ensure effective utilization across the team.Successful candidates are skilled technical professionals who can balance project execution, technical leadership, team development, and resource management to deliver strong outcomes for clients, employees, and the business. Responsibilities: Serves as a Technical Design Lead on water and wastewater projects, providing technical direction, design oversight, and quality assurance.Performs and oversees engineering planning, analysis, and design for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.Reviews and provides technical oversight of engineering calculations, specifications, reports, drawings, and contract documents.Supervises and develops a team of Engineering Associates and Professional Engineers through coaching, mentoring, and workload planning.Coordinates with Project Managers and other Engineering Managers to align technical resources with project needs and employee development goals.As needed, provides technical input with proposals and Project Management Plans to provide accurate estimates for projects or programs. Reviews operational procedures to ensure compliance with applicable policies and performance measures. Reviews and provides feedback to specifications, documents, drawings, plans, and reports. May complete these items if needed. Designs a component, or process on a complex projects or is in responsible charge of single discipline projects. Attends internal and client meetings to present on work assignments. Works to reduce department projects costs to drive competitive status. Develops and builds positive relationships with clients, direct reports, officials, contractors, and others. Supports and implements strategic and business planning activities. This role will have talent management responsibilities for a group of individuals including, but not limited to selection, development, and coaching for improvement. May be the hiring manager for certain positions. May recommend separations. This role mentors other professionals.
Education & Experience Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from accredited program. Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience.Registered Professional EngineerSolid technical knowledge in Water/Wastewater concepts, practices, and procedures.Keeps informed of new methods and developments affecting the
organization.Effectively collaborate with business and teams to meet defined objectives.Ability to effectively manage and motivate employees.Sets priorities and reconciles information from competing interests.
