Our Technology Systems and Product Performance team plays a pivotal role in the product development process by taking ownership of the systems and sub-system delivery for project across different categories at Dyson.
This role is for the Engineering Manager of the Technology Systems and Product Performance team in China.


Detailed Job Scope (Roles & Responsibilities)

Managing a team of Technology System engineers and Product Performance Engineers predominantly based in China but with potential satellite teams in the immediate region. These engineers will be subject matter experts and are responsible for the direct delivery of the system and subsystems for projects at Dyson. Working with partners across the region in delivering projects to production.

You will be accountable for the overall deliverables of the team to the business. This will involve planning people demand, allocation and prioritising engineering/product development activities to ensure effective execution and timely delivery. Occasionally this would involve hands-on participation in actual work packages on live projects depending on project demands.

You will be responsible for the performance management of individual engineers, their professional development and for setting up a culture of high-performance within the team. This will require developing the capability of the engineers by coaching and sharing your knowledge/experience in a continuous professional development environment.

Develop and execute the regional Technology Systems strategy for fluids, thermals, and related technologies, ensuring robust system-level engineering capability that accelerates product development, de-risks technical challenges, and enables delivery of differentiated customer performance across current and future product categories. Developing processes and ways-of-working and where required, incorporating these within the product development process of the company.

Planning and managing OPEX/CAPEX budget and spend.

Planning and managing facilities (laboratories) and equipment under the remit of the team.

Willing to Travel across China to work alongside partners.
Qualifications

A credible engineering degree and a minimum of 8 years’ experience in engineering or product development.

Demonstrable experience of (or high potential for) leading and growing small to medium sized technical teams.

Demonstrable expertise in Fluid Dynamics, CFD, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, and Mechanical Engineering fundamentals, with application to complex consumer products and engineered systems.

•Experience of managing demanding, cross-functional stakeholders with conflicting interests and motivations.

Experience of leading teams in technical problem solving and risk management is highly desirable.

A clear logical thinker with exceptional attention to details.

Excellent people skills. Emotional intelligence and empathy in our people leaders are valued due to the nature of work demands in product development

Ability to communicate at all levels in the organisation from graduates to members of the board with confidence, accuracy, and appropriate detail.
