At DKB Code Factory, you will take on a key engineering leadership role within our Pega low-code engineering chapter, growing and developing a high-performing group of engineers working at the heart of DKB’s digital transformation. You will lead two Pega teams distributed over Germany who are building digital self-service solutions that automate operations and enable fast, reliable customer service, helping shape the experience of millions of customers.

Although this is a hands-off role, a strong software engineering background is required; Pega experience is a plus, but not expected. To be successfull in this role, you become a trusted people leader, team and delivery coach Your teams grow, perform, and collaborate better due to your leadership. In detail, you'll...

  • Foster a Safe Remote Team Culture: Within your first weeks, you establish a regular cadence of weekly 1:1s and take the time to truly get to know and understand your engineers. You foster an environment of trust and psychological safety on your teams, while building strong, collaborative relationships with the Product Owners of your teams, other key stakeholders, the Pega Chapter Lead, and your peer EMs.
  • Build Your Own Pega Foundation (if not present already): In your first month you use the Pega Academy (online) to get a solid and basic overview of Pega low-code technology, including the case lifecycle, rules-based architecture, deployment with branches and pipelines, and how testing Pega software works.
  • Coach and Grow Your Pega Engineers: In your first 3 months, build a deep understanding of each of your direct’s career aspirations and create and document individual development plans based on our career map that align their goals with your concrete expectations. You provide regular, actionable feedback, offer supportive career coaching, and establish structured 360° reviews and participate in our cross-team performance calibration meetings.
  • Accelerate Delivery in your Teams: In month 3, you start taking more ownership of the software delivery performance of your Pega teams. You use our own KPI tooling and Jira to review key delivery metrics like velocity, Say/Do ratio, and bugs created vs. resolved to identify areas for improvement, and coach your team to make the right process changes to unlock better performance. Your improvements start showing results and positive trends by month 4 of your employment.
  • Strengthen Dev-QA Collaboration: Within your first six months, you foster a strong culture of quality. You promote a shift-left testing approach, enabling developers and testers to collaborate more closely and improve handoffs, test coverage, automation, and overall release reliability and confidence. You support a risk-based testing strategy and the cost-effective implementation of the testing pyramid.
  • Hire and Retain Great Talent: Starting in month 4, you begin supporting our structured hiring and onboarding to bring in new junior talent and more experienced high-performing Pega engineers, who pass probation and deliver real value. You propose at least two hiring or onboarding process improvements which contribute to a well-balanced internal talent pool with good retention over time.
  • Strengthen chapter capabilities (typically in year two) As you gain deeper understanding of the organization, you’ll be expected to identify and drive a long-term, high-impact initiative that enhances our Pega chapter’s capabilities and supports the ongoing development of the team and its leadership.

This is a hands-off people leadership role. You won’t be writing code, but you’ll need a solid technical foundation to guide your teams. So ideally you bring a background in...

  • Software development: Several years of hands-on experience building and delivering production software in teams and proficiency in multiple programming languages. Experience with low-code technology or a QA background is a bonus.
  • Leadership Several years of experience managing people and leading high-performance software engineering teams.
  • Language skills Fluent in German and English, with strong overall communication skills.
  • You are passionate about your work, but also know how to enjoy your free time!
