Job Description Summary

The Manager, Hot Gas Path and Combustion will lead and manage a talented, high-energy team of engineers that own hot gas path components for materials in a gas power plant. This includes new material development, drawing sign-off, qualifications, non-conforming material dispositions, and failure analyses, mechanical behavior, design curves and lifing models for design tools.

Impacts the team's ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives. The role is subject to operating policy objectives. There is moderate autonomy within the role. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Set team priorities, expectations and standards
  • Communicate and support key business initiatives and ensure a strong communication link with GSCM and other teams
  • Manage team member work assignments and schedules
  • Provide technical guidance to team membersCoach and mentor team to help facilitate growth in their career
  • Ensure the team is adequately funded to support the business’ imperatives
  • Drive strategy around qualifications
  • Foster environment of continuous improvement, i.e. specification revisions
  • Apply knowledge of materials and materials processing to implement new ideas that reduce cost and add value and performance
  • This position requires excellent leadership, communication and facilitation skills as well as a passion for quality and continuous improvement
  • Qualifications/Requirements :
  • Bachelor's Degree of Science in Materials Engineering
  • Minimum 8 years in a Materials Engineering experience
  • Desired Characteristics :
  • Previous experience as a Technical Leader or other leadership role
  • Understanding of GE’s coating systems
  • Shop / manufacturing experience
  • Experience with NDE methods
  • Green Belt / Black Belt certified (GE employees only)
  • An Advanced degree in Engineering
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with individuals in global locations
  • Ability and willingness to challenge the status quo and deliver the best GE products
  • Ability to work with a global team and supplier base

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $131,700.00 and $219,300.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
