Job Description

This person will lead, mentor and develop a team of data engineers on cloud technology products, projects, and initiatives. Work with all customers, both internal and external, to make sure all data related features are implemented in each solution. Will collaborate with business partners and other technical teams across the organization as required to deliver proposed solutions.

  • Help to define the technical direction of the team and drive the actual architecture/design/implementations to enhance an ever-expanding data platform, that supports business process needs for internal and external integration via APIs, data models, self-serve reporting solutions, and interactive querying
  • Managing a team of of data engineers including responsibility for their career growth, goal setting, and performance improvements
  • Management of team progression, maturity, Agile delivery, and DevOps/CI-CD processes
  • Solution analysis and design, balancing technical and business aspects
  • High-level and low-level design of real-time and batch system interfaces and data enrichment pipelines in a cloud-native data ecosystem
  • Promoting and enforcing design and development standards and best practices
  • Collaborate and influence Users, Engineers, and Product partners to ensure our data infrastructure meets constantly evolving requirements
  • Works with IT leadership and business partners to design features for the cloud data platform
  • Work with the latest and greatest technologies in the Microsoft cloud stack including Azure SQL, Synapse, Data Lake, Data Factory, Databricks, Azure function, Service Bus, Event Hub, etc.

Job Requirements:

  • 6 years required, 8 years preferred experience in a data engineering role
  • 2+ years of experience leading team
  • 3 years required, 5 years preferred experience in Azure data services (Data Factory, Databricks, ADLS, Synapse, SQL DB, etc.)
  • 1 – 3 years preferred experience in data architecture activities such as evaluation, design, and implementation of data related technologies
  • Solid understanding of real-time & batch data processing, data pipelines, transformation, and modeling using traditional and distributed systems
  • Bachelor’s degree information technology, computer science, or data related field preferred
  • Expertise working with databases and SQL
  • Strong working knowledge of Azure Data Factory and Databricks
  • Strong working knowledge of code management and continuous integrations systems (Azure DevOps or Github preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of cloud relational databases (Azure Synapse and Azure SQL preferred)
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases (such as CosmosDB) preferred
  • Any experience with Python, DAX, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, IoT technologies, PowerBI, Power Apps, SSIS, Informatica, Teradata, Oracle DB, and Snowflake preferred but not required
  • Ability to multi-task and reprioritize in a dynamic environment
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic understanding of budgets including processing invoices and other financial documents through accounting processes and practices
