Job Description

About Radiant

Radiant is building the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company’s first reactor, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt, fail-safe microreactor that can be transported anywhere power is needed and run for up to 5 years without refueling. Portable nuclear power with rapid-deploy capability can replace similar-sized diesel generators and provide critical asset support for hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases.

Founded in 2020 and based in El Segundo, CA, Radiant is on track to test its first reactor at the Idaho National Laboratory, with initial customer deliveries beginning in 2028. The approach leverages modern software engineering to rapidly deliver safe, factory-built microreactors using existing, well-qualified materials.

The Opportunity

Radiant is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Electronics team. This team owns the electronics architecture for terrestrial reactor controls, with a long-term path toward space reactor applications. You will be the technical authority for custom hardware — low-noise analog front ends, high-speed data conversion, DSP, and PCB design — from requirements capture through field operation.

You will build and manage a team of electrical engineers, own the electronic architecture for current and future reactor programs, and drive acceptance and qualification testing of all in-house PCB designs. This is a hands-on technical leadership role at a company where the hardware you build will eventually power military bases, hospitals, and remote operations worldwide.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and manage a team of electrical engineers developing and testing the next generation of reactor control systems
  • Own the electronic architecture for terrestrial and, in the future, space reactors
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements for all electronic designs — environmental, noise, accuracy, input range, and reliability
  • Own acceptance and qualification testing of all in-house PCB designs to verify design and build to requirements

You Should Have

  • 5+ years managing electrical engineers
  • 5+ years designing mixed signal, analog, or RF hardware
  • Proven track record of PCB design with considerations for low noise, matched impedance signal routing, conduction cooling, and robust connectors — preferably in Altium
  • Strong experience with industrial signal types including 4-20mA, RTD, thermocouples, and resolvers
  • Experience with high-speed, sensitive signals and digital communication interfaces such as SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, and RS422
  • Experience with EMI/EMC best practices for design and mitigation strategies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as required; role is 100% on-site in El Segundo

Nice to Have

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Aerospace, Mechanical, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with rad-hardened circuit design
  • Experience with control system design for nuclear applications
  • Experience with nuclear instrumentation and signals
  • Familiarity with applying IEEE-603 in electrical designs

Compensation and Benefits

Base Salary: $208,500 - $284,025, plus substantial equity grants.

Benefits include 100% employer-covered medical up to silver plan (50% for dependents) with Platinum plan options; 100% dental and vision coverage (50% for dependents); sponsored One Medical memberships for employees and dependents; FSA/HSA, commuter, and voluntary benefits; 8 weeks of paid parental leave for all parents; daily catered lunch and free snacks; flexible PTO; and remote workday allocation.
