About the role:

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager, Core Commerce Services (m/f/d) to lead the people, technology and engineering outcomes of a business-critical area within our e-commerce platform.vIn this role, you will lead a team building foundational back-end services and reusable business capabilities that power Redcare Pharmacy's customer journeys. The area connects customer-facing products with core systems to complete complex commerce flows reliably. One major initiative will be our future headless checkout, creating secure, scalable and channel-independent capabilities for webshops, apps and channels. Working with Product and adjacent engineering teams, you will shape the architecture, strategy and roadmap. You will combine people leadership with technical direction, develop a high-performing team and help prepare Redcare Pharmacy for AI-powered commerce.

About the technology landscape:

The future architecture is not predetermined. Evolving our core commerce services requires deliberate technology, domain and integration choices. We are looking for someone who can evaluate trade-offs, guide the target architecture and help the team deliver value.

About your tasks:

• Lead, coach and develop a high-performing engineering team through people management, mentoring and hiring.
• Define the technical vision, architecture and roadmap for the Core Commerce Services domain.
• Drive the design and delivery of scalable services and platform capabilities, including our headless checkout.
• Establish clear domain boundaries, APIs and integration patterns using domain-driven design principles.
• Collaborate with Product and adjacent engineering teams, including Payments, while balancing short-term delivery with long-term sustainability.
• Ensure operational excellence through secure, scalable, resilient and observable systems.
• Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement and engineering excellence.

Qualifications

About you:

• Proven experience as an Engineering Manager.
• Strong background in backend engineering and large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience in defining software architecture, APIs, event-driven systems and domain-driven design.
• Track record of building and developing high-performing engineering teams.
• Experience with e-commerce platforms, core business services or high-volume transactional systems.
• Strong technical judgment combined with empathetic leadership and excellent stakeholder management.
• Ability to balance customer, business and technical priorities while making sound architectural decisions.
• Interest in emerging AI-powered and agentic commerce technologies.
