As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a specialized team of engineers building AI applications on an Agentic AI Platform You will bridge the gap between high-level architectural goals and daily execution, fostering a culture of technical excellence while remaining deeply hands-on with the code.
Team Leadership & People Management: Lead a small, agile team of engineers. You will act as the liaison between individual contributors and management, owning talent reviews, goal setting, and performance management for your team (including setting quarterly goals)
Active Technical Contribution: Stay actively involved in coding and code reviews You will contribute directly to design and architecture reviews, ensuring the team maintains high standards for code quality and system reliability.
Mentorship: Provide direct technical guidance to team members and supporting the professional development of junior-to-mid-level ICs.
Project Execution: Lead specific project teams through planning, task allocation, and progress tracking. You will ensure the team follows AI best practices to deliver on roadmap commitments.
AI Platform Development: Oversee the development of platform primitives, including retrieval interfaces, sessioning, and RAG-style features (embeddings, retrieval, and structured experimentation) to solve low-latency challenges on live streaming data.
Experience: Typically 1-4 years of people management or technical lead experience, with a strong background in software development
Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience developing cloud-based backend services. Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, Go, or Python is essential.
AI & Data Foundations: Familiarity with indexing strategies (e.g., OpenSearch/Elasticsearch) and streaming frameworks like Apache Flink, Kafka and AI tools like LangGraph, Vector Embeddings, Prompt Engineering. Exposure to AI cost tracking is a plus.
Infrastructure Knowledge: Experience deploying code on public cloud services (AWS, Azure) using container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
Operational Mindset: A solid understanding of engineering and AI SDLC best practices along with troubleshooting expertise using tools like ELK stack, telemetry tools, etc.
Soft Skills: Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to manage employees' concerns during periods of change and growth.
Languages: Java (Primary), Kotlin, Go, or Python.
Data/Search: OpenSearch, Apache Flink, Kafka, SQL/NoSQL, and Redis.
Infrastructure: Kubernetes, AWS, gRPC/HTTP, Service Mesh.
AI/LLM: RAG frameworks, Vector Databases, and Real-time Inference Runtimes.
