JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary:

The Engineering Director is responsible for leading the Marathon Generators Engineering organization in the design, documentation, support, and continuous improvement of generator products. This position provides technical and organizational leadership to a multi-functional engineering team, while partnering closely with customers and Sales, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Quality teams to achieve business objectives.

Major Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop an experienced team of Electrical and Mechanical engineers, fostering a culture of customer collaboration and industry expertise.
• Direct engineering activities supporting the design, development, validation, and manufacturing of generator products.
• Work directly with key customers to develop product specifications, project objectives, and timelines.
• Establish engineering priorities, allocate resources, and manage project execution to meet business objectives, schedules, and customer commitments.
• Partner with Sales, Quality and Field Service organizations to resolve customer technical issues.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams to standardize products, share best practices, and leverage worldwide engineering resources.
• Work closely with global Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Sourcing teams to improve product cost, reliability, quality, and plant performance.
• Develop and manage engineering department budget, staffing plans, and resource allocation to support business objectives.
• Support execution of the company's strategic growth initiatives through engineering leadership, innovation, and customer collaboration.
• Serve as a member of the Marathon Generators leadership team to develop business plans and strategy.

Required Education / Experience / Skills:

• Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in product development, manufacturing support, or related engineering functions.
• Demonstrated leadership experience leading engineering teams in a global manufacturing environment.
• Experience with rotating electrical equipment, including generators, motors, alternators, or similar electromechanical products.
• Strong understanding of engineering documentation, including drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs), engineering change management, and product lifecycle processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal leadership at all levels.
• Experience leading engineering organizations within a global manufacturing environment.
• Experience with ERP and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
• Familiarity with industry standards and agency / regulatory requirements for rotating electrical equipment.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Travel: Ability to travel (domestic and international) as business needs require (10% - 20%).

Industrial Electro-Electronic Equipment

This area includes electric motors, drives and industrial automation equipment and services, and maintenance services. Electric motors and other related equipment find applications in practically all industrial segments, in equipment such as compressors, pumps and fans, for example.

Energy Generation, Transmission and Distribution (GTD)

Products and services included in this area are electric generators for hydraulic and thermal power plants (biomass), hydro turbines (small hydroelectric plants or PCH, and hydroelectric generators or CGH)), wind turbines, transformers, substations, control panels and system integration services.

Commercial and Appliance Motors

In this business area, our focus is the market of single phase motors for durable consumer goods, such as washing machines, air conditioners, water pumps, among others.

Paints and Varnishes

In this area, which includes liquid paints, powder paints, and electro-insulating varnishes, we have a very clear focus on industrial applications in Brazil and are expanding to Latin America and other regions.
