Job Title: Senior Platform Engineer
Location: Bangalore

Business & Team: Enterprise Services (ES) is responsible for the world leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank, from innovative product platforms for our customers to essential tools within our business. We also use technology to drive efficient and timely processing, an essential component of great customer service.

The Identity & Access Technology (IAT) team protects the Bank and our customers from cyber compromise, through proactive management of cyber security, privacy, and operational risk. Our team includes: - Cyber Protection & Design ,Cyber Delivery ,Identity & Access Assurance

Impact & Contribution: The CBA technology unit delivers the best digital banking services to Commonwealth Bank customers and to do so is responsible for digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology, and technology infrastructure, cyber, fraud, physical security and business resilience for all divisions across CBA. It is also dedicated to delivering the best workplace technology experience for our over 53,000 people across CBA and focused on providing the latest tools, technology, and resources to enhance the way we work together and empower our people to achieve more for our customers.

This role will see you become part of our Identity Engineering Chapter Area, a key function within the group’s broader Cyber Engineering practice.

  • As an Engineering Manager, you are a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME), consulting on technical strategies, products, and feature designs, and will be critical to our quality implementation and delivery.
  • You will have the opportunity to work as a Team leadmanager as well as being an individual hands-on contributor as a Full Cycle Engineer, including automation development, systems integration, and contributing to the evolution of our platforms and business strategy.
  • This role will see you lead key project initiatives that drive the organisation’s automation and optimisation capabilities, including the design and deployment of secure, scalable infrastructure and services in cloud environments such as AWS.
  • You will also be invited to attend our regular engineering guilds to broaden your expertise and participate in agile ceremonies, allowing you to contribute to and help define the way we operate.

Roles & Responsibilities:

You will be expected to perform the following tasks in a manner consistent with CBA’s Values and People Capabilities.

  • Manage and provide input to any incident, problem, change or project which has, or may have, a major impact on services.
  • Responsible for the oversight and progress of all Major Technical Incidents to ensure their prompt resolution. This will involve coordinating separate technical teams, structuring investigations and working with the respective business areas to ensure accurate and timely information is disseminated to senior stakeholders and end-users.
  • Manage the project transitional elements of new services to BAU and ensure all relevant support partners are skilled and capable of supporting the new services.
  • Influence relationship management skills with stakeholders, colleagues and users in pursuit of delivering high quality services whilst maintaining service targets.
  • Possess Strong analytical skills and able to make sense & resolve complex and logical problems quickly.
  • Ability to analyse a range of information sources and to resolve potentially conflicting information and viewpoints to achieve an agreed outcome.
  • Flexible approach to work with a focus on delivery to deadlines and high standards.
  • Extensive experience in managed services and service delivery environment including technical and service management exposure.

Essential Skills:

  • 14+ years of solid operational experience with significant people management exposure
  • Domain knowledge in IAT – specifically in Authentication space – with knowledge in SSO / MFA areas
  • Drive adoption of best practices in software engineering, DevOps, and Agile methodologies.
  • Solid understanding of Ping Identity, Ping Directory, PING Suite of products for enterprise IAM.
  • Proficiency in AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, CloudFormation/Terraform).
  • Experience with GitHub Actions for workflow automation.
  • Scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, Python.
  • Strong hands-on experience with TeamCity build configuration and Octopus Deploy
  • Good to have AI exposure.
  • Relevant IT or business tertiary qualifications is desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Education Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology
