If you believe one person can make the world a better place, we'll put you to work. RIGHT NOW.
Due to the development of John Deere Business Service Center, we are currently seeking candidates for the position of:
Engineering Manager
Poznań, Poland
At John Deere's Enterprise Core Platforms, Operations, Strategy, and Transformation organization, we are transforming how technology products and services are requested, approved, fulfilled, and delivered across the globe.
This role leads teams responsible for building the platforms, workflows, integrations, and automation that power John Deere's technology fulfillment and procurement processes. These solutions help employees obtain the technology they need while enabling effective collaboration between requestors, approvers, vendors, procurement teams, and IT support organizations.
The goal is not simply to automate existing processes, but to fundamentally redesign how technology fulfillment operates at global scale.
Success in this role requires understanding where people, process, and technology intersect and making intentional decisions about what should be self-service, what should be automated, where human expertise adds value, and how technology can create simpler experiences while maintaining appropriate controls.
This role is supported by Product Management, Delivery Management, Program Management, and Implementation leadership, allowing you to focus on engineering strategy, technical leadership, organizational effectiveness, and team development.
Your responsibilities:
- Lead engineering teams responsible for building and operating platforms that support global technology request, fulfillment, and procurement workflows.
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of software engineers while partnering closely with request processing and procurement specialists that enable day-to-day business operations.
- Partner with Product Management to define technical strategy, architecture direction, and engineering roadmaps.
- Drive the transformation of manual and highly customized processes into scalable, automated, and self-service experiences.
- Lead the development of workflow platforms, microservices, APIs, SaaS integrations, and web applications that support both customer-facing and operational workflows.
- Design systems that effectively balance self-service, automation, augmentation, and human review to optimize customer experience, operational efficiency, and business risk.
- Partner with request processing and procurement teams to design workflows, tooling, and operating models that improve scale, consistency, and customer experience.
- Apply systems thinking to identify opportunities that simplify workflows, reduce handoffs, improve decision-making, and increase operational efficiency.
- Foster strong engineering practices focused on security, quality, observability, reliability, maintainability, and speed to value.
- Build and develop engineering talent through coaching, mentorship, performance management, and growth opportunities.
- Collaborate with globally distributed stakeholders to identify process improvement opportunities and scale successful solutions across regions and business units.
- Drive continuous improvement through data-driven decision making and measurable operational outcomes
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or enterprise application development.
- 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams in an Agile environment.
- Experience delivering modern software platforms, including web applications, APIs, backend services, and SaaS integrations.
- Strong understanding of full-stack software engineering and modern application architecture.
- Experience designing distributed systems and service-oriented architectures.
- Experience designing and implementing workflow automation, business process orchestration, or operational platforms.
- Experience designing and operating solutions on modern cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, or similar).
- Strong understanding of people, process, and technology interactions, with an ability to design systems that optimize across all three.
- Proven experience simplifying complex business processes through technology and automation.
- Experience evaluating tradeoffs between self-service, automation, augmentation, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience developing talent, coaching individuals, and leading teams through organizational and process change.
Nice to have:
- Experience with procurement, fulfillment, request management, service management, workflow, or operational platforms.
- Experience building systems that support large-scale business operations across multiple regions or countries.
- Experience integrating third-party SaaS platforms, vendors, and enterprise systems.
- Experience with cloud-native engineering practices, DevOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation.
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration platforms, low-code platforms, or process automation tools.
- Experience designing AI-assisted workflows, decision-support systems, or human-in-the-loop automation.
- Experience working with high-volume transactional systems and operational processes.
- Familiarity with vendor management, procurement processes, or global business operations.
What we offer:
- Employment contract.
- Company car and/or car allowance.
- Strong support for work-life balance, including flexible working hours (start time between 7:00 and 10:00 AM) and a hybrid work model at Business Garden in Poznań.
- Opportunities for professional development within the company, with strong support for internal career growth.
- Employee referral program.
- Additional vacation days based on length of employment.
- Holiday allowance when taking at least 2 weeks off.
- Daily use of a foreign language in a friendly international working environment.
- Private medical care, life insurance, sports card, meal allowance, language courses, a social fund budget, and various additional fun events in our office.
