About you

We are seeking a dynamic and accomplished Engineering Manager to lead our talented team of engineers. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of technical expertise, leadership acumen, and a passion for driving innovation. As a key player in our organization, you should have a proven track record of successfully managing multiple engineering teams, delivering high-quality projects, and fostering a collaborative and innovative work culture.

Purpose of role

At nShift, the primary task of the Engineering Manager is to lead, inspire, and support a group of talented developers and testers, ensuring they thrive in a collaborative, high-performing environment. Engineering Manager plays a central leadership role in ensuring the team delivers high-quality software that aligns with business goals and technical strategy.

This role blends technical leadership, people management, and delivery accountability.

As Engineering Manager in the Portal Team, you will lead a cross-functional development team, providing coaching, structure, and direction.

You’ll ensure that engineering teams are empowered, motivated, and equipped to build scalable, secure, and resilient solutions - while continuously improving how they work.

Your role includes:

· Collaborating with the Product Managers on Product Requirement Documents and balancing feature delivery with quality.

· Supporting team development and maintaining a high-performing culture.

· Communicating company goals and representing the team within the organization.

· Driving technical excellence and sustainable delivery practices.

Overall responsibility:

Technology

· Ensure that daily work aligns with the tech vision, guiding principles and quality standards.

· Make sure that the technology stack managed by the team is resilient, secure, and up to date.

· Promote internal education, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing across platforms and teams.

Process

· Challenge your team to enhance their working methods, proactively addressing opportunities and obstacles with a critical mindset.

· Ensure that your team consistently follows established processes and advocate for adopting best practices and tools.

· Provide support to the Product Manager.

People Management

· Administer and oversee personal development plans, salary structures, and recruitment processes.

· Create opportunities for team members to stay motivated through mentorship, coaching, or delegating tasks to encourage professional growth.

· Cultivate a culture of empowered employment, setting an example for your team to follow.

· Build and maintain a robust team with overlapping skills and knowledge, avoiding critical dependencies on single individuals.

Competence and Experience:

For the role of Engineering Manager in our Portal team at nShift, we are seeking candidates who embody the following characteristics:

Technical Proficiency: A strong hands-on background in .NET is required, with a proven history of technical expertise in software development. Experience with TypeScript and experience working with LLMs is a distinct advantage, but not mandatory.

Education and experience

BS degree in Computer Science or related field

Minimum of 3 years of management experience, advanced knowledge of the above-mentioned technologies.
