Spire Healthcare, St Anthony's Hospital | Sutton | Engineering Manager | Permanent – Full Time

Spire St Anthony's Hospital is seeking a highly experienced and proactive Hospital Engineering Manager to lead our Estates and Engineering function. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing five heritage buildings, ensuring compliance, safety, and operational excellence across the hospital site.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of safe, efficient, and compliant engineering services across the hospital site.
  • Ensure best practice and consistency in all aspects of engineering and estates management.
  • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring buildings and equipment are maintained to the highest standards.
  • Manage and develop a skilled team of site engineers and handymen, supporting their professional growth.
  • Ensure full compliance with Spire’s Fire Policy and all regulatory requirements, including CQC and Public Health England standards.
  • Act as the hospital’s Approved Person (AP) for key systems including medical gases, water safety, low voltage electrical services, decontamination equipment, and heating & ventilation.

Who We’re Looking For:

We are looking for a confident and experienced Engineering or Estates Lead with:

  • AP Qualification is desired.
  • A relevant background in electrical, plumbing, or building services engineering.
  • Previous experience of working within a hospital or healthcare environment is an essential requirement of this role.
  • Strong management experience essential.
  • Previous experience in managing a team.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A proactive, flexible approach and commitment to continuous improvement.

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time – 37.5 hours per week
