The Engineering Manager leads multidisciplinary engineering teams responsible for the delivery of engineering, technical, asset management, and infrastructure support services within a complex 24/7 operational environment.This role oversees a diverse portfolio of engineering functions including electrical, mechanical, civil, telecommunications, integration, controls, asset management, drafting, data centre operations, and technical engineering support services. Operating within a live and operationally sensitive environment, the Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring engineering outcomes are delivered safely, effectively, and in alignment with operational, compliance, schedule, and infrastructure reliability requirements.
Leading teams of engineers, technical specialists, integration personnel, asset management professionals, and engineering support specialists, the Engineering Manager provides strategic and operational leadership across infrastructure lifecycle management, recapitalization planning, technical governance, systems integration, engineering assurance, and project delivery activities supporting critical facility infrastructure and operational systems.
The position plays a key role in maintaining infrastructure reliability, supporting operational continuity, driving engineering improvement initiatives, and enabling long-term asset sustainability across a large and technically complex facilities portfolio.

The successful candidate must be a U.S Citizen and must hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license
Work Schedule:
The core hours for this role are 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, however we understand that life happens. Amentum is an employer that supports a healthy work/life balance and flexible working hours can be accommodated where operationally possible.
Additionally,all federal holidays are observed, with the ability to float two holidays per year.
Essential Responsibilities:
Lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering and technical teams supporting facility infrastructure, operational systems, asset management, integration activities, and engineering support services.
Provide strategic and operational leadership across engineering service delivery to ensure infrastructure reliability, system performance, operational continuity, and compliance requirements are achieved.
Oversee the planning, coordination, prioritisation, and delivery of engineering projects, infrastructure upgrades, system modifications, and recapitalization activities across a diverse facilities portfolio.
Manage engineering governance activities including technical review, engineering assurance, standards compliance, risk management, and design oversight across multiple engineering disciplines.
Coordinate engineering support for facility infrastructure, operational systems, and technical improvement initiatives within a live 24/7 operational environment.
Lead infrastructure lifecycle management activities including asset planning, condition assessments, maintenance strategies, reliability improvement initiatives, and long-term infrastructure sustainability planning.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, operational teams, technical specialists, and external service providers to support engineering outcomes, operational requirements, and infrastructure priorities.
Oversee engineering resource planning, workload management, technical capability development, mentoring, and performance management across engineering and technical teams.
Support the development of budgets, ROM estimates, infrastructure planning strategies, and engineering project forecasting activities.
Promote and maintain a strong safety, quality, and compliance culture across all engineering and technical activities.
Ensure engineering activities are conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory, contractual, environmental, safety, and organizational requirements.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
This role operates within a complex 24/7 operational environment supporting critical infrastructure, facility systems, and engineering operations across a large and technically diverse facilities portfolio.
The position involves a combination of office-based and site-based activities, including engagement with operational facilities, infrastructure systems, technical teams, and engineering projects in active operational environments. The role may require occasional attendance within plant, infrastructure, construction, maintenance, or operational areas.
The site environment may include exposure to varying weather and environmental conditions, including periods of extreme heat, particularly during summer months.
The role requires the ability to routinely sit, stand, walk, communicate effectively, and maintain sustained mental alertness while managing multiple operational and engineering priorities. Occasional lifting, bending, kneeling, and movement through operational facilities may be required
The Engineering Manager must be capable of working within dynamic operational environments while maintaining safety, compliance, and performance expectations
Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
Excellent communication and negotiation skills and working knowledge of SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite, and integrated software applications are required
Knowledge of various subcontract types (Cost-Plus, Fixed Price, Time & Materials, and subsets thereof).
Security Clearance Required:
It is a condition of employment that employees obtain and retain the appropriate level of security clearance and medical clearance applicable to each role. The employee will require a TS/SCI (U.S.) clearance with Polygraph
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s Degree Engineering or other related discipline
Experience:
Minimum Essential
Minimum seven (7) years’ experience supporting engineering, infrastructure, facilities, or operational programs of similar size, scope, and complexity
Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a senior engineering leadership or project management role supervising engineers, technical specialists, contractors, or multidisciplinary technical teams
Demonstrated experience managing complex engineering activities within a 24/7 operational environment requiring coordination with operational stakeholders
Demonstrated experience overseeing engineering project delivery, infrastructure upgrades, system modifications, and recapitalisation activities across large or technically complex facilities portfolios
Demonstrated experience managing multi-million-dollar engineering or infrastructure project portfolios, including resource allocation, scheduling, budgeting, and delivery oversight
Demonstrated experience in engineering governance activities including technical review, design oversight, standards compliance, engineering assurance, and risk management
Demonstrated experience supporting infrastructure lifecycle management, asset planning, reliability improvement initiatives, and long-term infrastructure sustainability strategies
Demonstrated experience working across multidisciplinary engineering environments including electrical, mechanical, civil, controls, telecommunications, integration, asset management, or operational infrastructure systems
Strong stakeholder engagement, leadership, communication, and team management skills
Desirable
Experience within remote, high-security, defence, government, critical infrastructure, data centre, industrial, or operational facilities environments
Experience supporting live operational facilities where engineering activities must be coordinated around ongoing operations
Experience with facilities operation and maintenance programs
Experience with power generation and distribution systems, load management, building management systems, or data centre infrastructure
Experience leading geographically or technically diverse engineering teams
Required Certifications:
Professional Engineer (PE) license
