Engineering Manager Role

Lead high-performing engineering teams. Scale a growing regional capability. Help shape our global data and technology platform.

We’re hiring an Engineering Manager to lead our Hyderabad-based Engineering team, working across our industry-leading data management, analytics, and technology products.

This is a people and delivery leadership role where you’ll lead a growing team of Software and Data Engineers through a layer of Lead Engineers, helping create an environment where engineers can thrive and deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.

You’ll work closely with Engineering Managers and technical leaders across EMEA and North America to ensure strong collaboration, consistent engineering standards, and successful delivery across a globally distributed organisation. You’ll report to the Director of Engineering in Hyderabad and work closely with senior product and engineering stakeholders globally.

Deep expertise in Data Engineering is essential, alongside a strong appreciation for modern software engineering practices and team leadership in a fast-paced product environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead & Scale Engineering Teams

• Lead and support a growing Hyderabad-based engineering organisation of Software and Data Engineers through a team of Lead Engineers.
• Line-manage and mentor Lead Engineers, helping them develop as technical and people leaders.
• Foster a high-performance engineering culture focused on collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and delivery excellence.
• Support hiring, onboarding, and career development as the regional engineering capability grows.

Drive Delivery & Engineering Excellence

• Partner with Product Managers, Delivery Managers, Lead Engineers, and global Engineering Managers to deliver high-quality products and platform capabilities.
• Ensure consistent application of SDLC practices, engineering standards, release management, and operational excellence across teams.
• Support technical planning, prioritisation, estimation, and execution while helping teams remove blockers and improve delivery flow.
• Promote scalable, secure, and maintainable engineering practices across both data and software engineering disciplines.
• Drive improvements in engineering efficiency and developer productivity through automation, AI-assisted development workflows, and modern engineering tooling.

Enable Technical Growth & Platform Evolution

• Provide technical leadership and guidance across Data Engineering initiatives and platform development.
• Support adoption of modern cloud-native technologies, data platforms, and engineering practices.
• Encourage experimentation, knowledge sharing, and the effective use of AI-enabled engineering tools to accelerate delivery quality and consistency.
• Work closely with global engineering leadership to improve developer experience, engineering consistency, and platform maturity.

Requirements

Essential

• Experience leading engineering teams in a software and/or data engineering environment, including leadership-through-leads or managing managers.
• Strong background in Data Engineering and modern data platforms, ideally within cloud-native environments (Azure or AWS).
• Experience delivering scalable, secure, production-grade technology products and platforms.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), engineering best practices, and agile delivery models.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
• Passion for building high-performing teams, improving engineering culture, and developing engineering talent.

Desirable

• Experience leading teams across both Data Engineering and Software Engineering disciplines.
• Proven ability to lead and influence within globally distributed or matrixed engineering organisations.
• Familiarity with modern data and processing frameworks such as Python, Spark, Scala, or Databricks.
• Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, test automation, and AI-assisted engineering practices.
• Experience supporting regional team growth and organisational scaling.
• Experience working in product-led or SaaS environments.
