What you'll do
As our Engineering Manager, you'll solve the challenge of scaling and maintaining a high-performing engineering organisation in a regulated fintech environment. Your focus will be people leadership and organisational capacity management, which means building and developing engineering teams, allocating engineers effectively across delivery initiatives, and establishing scalable people management practices across the pillar. You'll work with Tech Leads, Product Owners, and Craft Leads to ensure the organization has the right talent, structure, and capacity to deliver business-critical initiatives.
This role reports to the CTO and is a key hire for the newly restructured engineering organization.
You will:
Own the full people management lifecycle for 20–30 engineers across backend, frontend, QA, and test automation disciplines
Assemble and recompose cross-functional delivery teams based on business priorities and organisational capacity
Lead hiring across the pillar: designing interview processes, calibrating hiring standards, and making final hiring decisions
Allocate engineering capacity across multiple competing priorities while balancing delivery needs and individual growth
Partner with Tech Leads on technical strategy discussions while supporting their ownership of tactical technical decisions
Drive performance review cycles by gathering and calibrating feedback from technical leaders and delivering clear development guidance
Your professional skills and background
Must-haves
5+ years of experience in engineering leadership, people management, or software engineering management roles
Hands-on experience with engineering organisation management, hiring processes, performance reviews, and workforce planning
Ability to lead and develop multi-disciplinary engineering teams in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Strong understanding of software engineering practices and architectural discussions
Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
Nice-to-haves
Experience with regulated or compliance-heavy environments such as fintech, banking, insurance, or healthcare
Background in organisational transformation, restructuring, or role redesign within engineering organisations
Familiarity with financial services concepts such as AML/KYC, payments, or licensing
Experience partnering with HR/People teams on compensation frameworks, levelling, and career development frameworks
