WirelessCar drives the future of mobility by connecting vehicles and developing cutting-edge digital services. We help leading brands—like Volkswagen, Volvo, and Jaguar Land Rover—innovate, enhance mobility, and accelerate their digital transformation. Join us and shape the next era of automotive technology!

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and develop our Engineering Capabilities within Connected Services.

In this role, you will be responsible for building and driving cross-functional engineering capabilities such as architecture, security, engineering processes, and technical governance that support multiple teams and delivery areas.

You will combine strong people leadership with accountability for engineering outcomes, ensuring that our capabilities evolve in line with business needs while enabling high-quality, efficient, and sustainable delivery across the organization.

This is a key role in shaping how we scale engineering excellence across a complex, global delivery environment.

What you will do

As an Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Lead and develop a team of senior engineers and functional specialists within engineering capabilities such as architecture, security, delivery support, and engineering processes.

  • Own the performance, engagement, and long-term development of your team

  • Drive the development and execution of capability strategies aligned with business and delivery goals

  • Ensure high quality, efficiency, and consistency in engineering practices across teams

  • Drive engineering governance and compliance across domains, including standards, audits, and risk management

  • Lead and prioritize cross-functional capability initiatives and backlogs (e.g. innovation, AI, security, and engineering improvements)

  • Support technical direction and long-term capability development, including architecture, technology adoption, and continuous improvement

  • Collaborate closely with Delivery Managers, Engineering Managers, Product, and customers

  • Operate across teams and domains, influencing stakeholders and driving progress without direct authority

  • Contribute to organizational change and continuous improvement of engineering practice

We believe that you bring

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams or senior technical specialists

  • Strong background in software development and modern engineering practices

  • Experience working in complex, cross-functional environments

  • Experience driving delivery, quality, and engineering improvements

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including customer interaction

  • Experience leading change initiatives and implementing new ways of working

Additional qualifications

  • Broad technical understanding across multiple domains (e.g. cloud, security, DevOps, software engineering practices)

  • Experience leading senior specialists and subject matter experts

  • Proven ability to operate horizontally across teams and influence without direct authority

  • Experience driving complex initiatives (such as technical investigations & RFQs, engineering governance & standards, and security & compliance work)

  • Strong strategic and systems-thinking capability

Leadership profile

We are looking for someone who:

  • Takes full accountability for both people and outcomes

  • Balances team needs with business priorities

  • Communicates clearly and handles difficult conversations when needed

  • Builds trust while driving performance and results

  • Acts as an extension of leadership, not just a team manager

Why join us

You will be part of a transformation where we are strengthening engineering ownership, improving delivery, and building long-term capability across our organization.

This is an opportunity to:

  • Shape how engineering capabilities are built and scaled

  • Work in a global, cross-functional environment

  • Influence both technical direction and organizational development

We offer you

  • High-tech company that offers an exciting working environment

  • Involvement with Electric Vehicle services and products that drive sustainability

  • Tech fund where you pick your choice of tech tools

  • Flat organizational culture founded on trust and autonomy; at WirelessCar, you are not just a number

  • Work-life balance and free access to the gym at the Gothenburg office

  • Flexible working hours and a hybrid workplace
