The Engineering Manager will lead and develop the Manufacturing Engineering team to support all phases of the product lifecycle, including new product introduction, process development, sustaining activities, and continuous improvement. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence through process optimization, cost management, quality improvement, and compliance within a regulated manufacturing environment. The Engineering Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to ensure engineering solutions align with business objectives, customer requirements, and regulatory standards, while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement at the Orchard Park site.
Main Job Responsibilities:
• Lead, coach, and develop the Manufacturing Engineering team supporting new product introductions, process development, and ongoing production.
• Align engineering resources, priorities, and budgets to support business goals including cost reduction, capacity expansion, yield improvement, and operational efficiency.
• Drive improvements in throughput, scrap reduction, cost of goods (COGs), quality performance, and workplace safety.
• Partner with Operations, Quality, R&D, Supply Chain, and other functions to support product launches, transfers, and lifecycle management activities.
• Evaluate, develop, and implement manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies to enhance production capability and scalability.
• Ensure engineering activities comply with company Quality Systems and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements.
• Oversee execution of process validations, equipment qualifications, engineering change activities, and technical documentation.
• Apply lean, continuous improvement, and data-driven methodologies to improve manufacturing performance and engineering effectiveness.
• Lead root cause analysis efforts and support corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) related to manufacturing and quality issues.
• Maintain and enhance engineering tools and systems (e.g., CAD, PDM, DFx, simulation, manufacturing systems) to support efficient product and process development.
• Translate operational and technical challenges into actionable engineering solutions with measurable results.
• Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, innovation, and continuous learning within the engineering organization.
• Support talent development through coaching, performance management, succession planning, and alignment with company values and career growth opportunities.
Position Requirements:
Knowledge / Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field required; advanced degree preferred.
Job Experience
• 8+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering within a regulated industry (Aerospace or automotive); medical device experience strongly preferred.
• 6+ years of engineering leadership experience, including direct management of technical teams.
• Demonstrated experience supporting multiple phases of the product lifecycle, including process development, validation, and production support.
• Strong working knowledge of FDA, ISO, and OSHA regulations.
• Strong proficiency in Swiss Machining; experience operating or programming Swiss type CNC machines is highly preferred.
• Experience working with ERP systems, with a preference for Oracle ERP.
• Solid Microsoft Office skills, particularly: Excel and PowerPoint
Skills / Competencies
• Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
• Expertise in process development, optimization, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing systems, validation practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in root cause analysis, risk management, and CAPA execution.
• Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills; experience with statistical tools (e.g., T-test, ANOVA) preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, and engineering analysis tools (e.g., Minitab).
• Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) preferred.

We offer market competitive compensation. Potential salary range for this role is $140k-$160k + annual incentive bonus. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
