Job Description

At Collinson, we don’t just build technology — we power the experiences behind some of the world’s most recognised travel, financial services, and retail brands.

Our solutions help global brands acquire, engage, and retain millions of customers worldwide. Our flagship product is Priority Pass, the world’s leading airport experiences programme, trusted by travellers across more than 170 countries.

Key clients include Mastercard, American Express, Cathay Pacific, British Airways, LATAM, Flying Blue, Accor, EasyJet, HSBC, Chase, HDFC.

Our mission is focused on doing good beyond profit, which for us means we seek out opportunities for our people to share in our success and that we give back to the communities and people within which we work.

Never short of ambition, the success of our business is delivered through the diverse and talented team of over 2,200 global colleagues. We are now looking for a visionary Principal Engineer to help define the next generation of our platform.

We're now growing our team in Poland and want to be upfront about how this role is structured. As we don't yet have a legal entity in Poland, we work with an Employer of Record (EOR) or umbrella company to onboard talent in the region. This means the role is offered on a 2 year fixed term basis via an international contractor agreement — and is fully remote.

We are on the hunt for an Engineering Manager who knows that exceptional software comes from exceptional teams. Someone who leads with empathy, creates clarity from complexity, and builds an environment where engineers can do the best work of their careers.

This isn’t a role for process-heavy management or endless bureaucracy. It’s for a leader who thrives on momentum, experimentation, and helping talented engineers move fast while maintaining the high technical standards our customers rely on.

You’ll lead globally distributed engineering teams, support around 20–30 software engineers, and play a key role in shaping how we build products, deliver value, and evolve our engineering culture.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be the kind of leader who:

  • Inspires engineers to grow, learn, and push themselves further

  • Removes blockers before they become problems

  • Creates an environment where autonomy, trust, and collaboration thrive

  • Balances speed with engineering excellence and compliance expectations

  • Helps teams focus on meaningful outcomes, not just ticket completion

  • Champions modern engineering practices, cloud-native thinking, automation, and AI-enabled ways of working

  • Drives adoption of Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) and supports high-performing scrum teams

  • Works closely with Product, Delivery, and Engineering leaders to shape what we build and how we build it

Most importantly, you’ll help create a culture where engineers feel genuinely empowered to be themselves, contribute openly, and do work they’re proud of.

What we’re looking for

You’ve been a software engineer yourself, so you understand the craft and the mindset. You know how to support engineers because you’ve been in their shoes.

You’ll bring:

  • A strong track record of leading and growing high-performing engineering teams

  • Experience hiring and retaining exceptional engineering talent

  • A passion for modern software engineering and continuous improvement

  • Confidence working across varied systems, technologies, and product landscapes

  • A pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset with a bias toward action

  • The ability to simplify complexity and help teams move with confidence

  • A belief in experimentation, fast feedback, and learning through iteration

Experience with AWS and TypeScript would be a big bonus.

Why join us:

We know that a person’s potential is more than the sum of their past experiences. If you meet most but not all these points, we still encourage you to apply, your unique perspective could make the difference.

What Collinson Offers:

  • Career development, mentorship, and training

  • A supportive, inclusive culture with employee resource groups and diversity initiatives.

Collinson is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes differences in all their forms including: colour, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, neurodivergence, family status, age, individuals with disabilities and people from all backgrounds, cultures and experiences as we strongly believe this contributes to our on-going success.

We are focused on continually evolving our purpose driven, high performing culture, providing an environment where our people have the opportunity to achieve their full potential and do interesting and meaningful work. Our company values are: Take Action, Do the right thing, One team and Be insight led. These help guide everything we do internally in terms of how we think, act and interact, right through to how we deliver value to our customers and clients.

In your application, please feel free to note which pronouns you use (For example - she/her/hers, he/him/his, they/them/theirs, etc).
