This is a high-impact leadership role where you’ll take full ownership of site engineering performance, develop people, embed standards, and directly influence safety, reliability, and cost.

A quick look at the role.

As Engineering Manager, you will be accountable for the safe, reliable and cost-effective performance of all site assets at our facility in Ipswich. You’ll lead and develop the onsite engineering team, embed best-practice maintenance standards, and ensure engineering is a trusted partner to Operations.

Reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager, you’ll be a key member of the site leadership team and play a pivotal role in overall site performance.

This is a role for someone who enjoys ownership, leads with discipline and clarity, and balances short-term uptime with long-term asset health.

Your core responsibilities.

  • Lead, coach and develop a multi-disciplinary engineering team, fostering accountability and high performance
  • Create, embed and maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring full compliance with all engineering and H&S standards
  • Drive asset reliability through effective preventative maintenance, maintaining PM compliance consistently above 95%
  • Reduce breakdowns and reactive maintenance, improving overall plant availability and site performance
  • Manage contractors effectively, ensuring safe systems of work and quality delivery
  • Carry out Root Cause Analysis and implement sustainable, long-term engineering solutions
  • Plan, execute and continuously improve shutdown activities to minimise downtime and risk
  • Take ownership of engineering OPEX, contribute to CAPEX planning, embed engineering standards, and ensure best practice is consistently applied

Requirements

Our essential requirements.

  • Graduate qualification with relevant experience
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and principles
  • Experience managing process and lean improvement projects
  • Proven track record of achieving defined KPIs
  • Strong leadership in delivering large-scale projects and asset performance improvement
  • We would consider candidates currently working in, or with experience equivalent to, the following job titles: Engineering Manager, Maintenance Manager, Engineering & Facilities Manager, Engineering Operations Manager, Plant Engineering Manager, Asset Maintenance Manager, Reliability Manager, Technical Services Manager, Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Mechanical & Electrical Manager, Engineering Supervisor (senior level), Maintenance Operations Manager, Site Engineering Manager, Engineering Lead, Works Engineering Manager.
