Job Description

Join us and build a streaming platform used by millions

At Sky Czech Republic, we’re building the tech backbone behind some of the world’s biggest streaming services. Ever heard of Peacock in the US or Sky Showtime across Europe, including the Czech Republic? They all run on our global streaming platform — a shared technological core where each service plugs in its own content and brand.

Our platform serves millions of users worldwide — Peacock alone reaches over 40 million viewers in the US. Thousands of engineers across the globe help shape it, and our Prague tech hub plays a key role. We don’t just keep things running; we actively push the boundaries of streaming technology together with teams in Lisbon, London, and New York.

In Prague, we work across a wide range of engineering domains: frontend development (mobile, TV, and web), backend (Java), platform engineering, content delivery networks, video playback (Golang), and data engineering (Python). Whatever your focus, you’ll work on technology used at truly global scale.

What is the plot?

The Developer Platform Engineering department delivers the core backend infrastructure and platform services that power global streaming platforms, including Peacock, SkyShowtime, Showmax, NOW, and WOW. We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Edge Delivery team in Prague.

The Edge Delivery team, based in the UK and Czechia, owns the platform responsible for delivering web and API traffic at the edge. They operate a multi-CDN ecosystem (Akamai, Fastly), manage DNS, certificates, and access control, and build internal tools that enable safe, self-service deployments. The team also drives best practices, governance, and continuous improvement through performance optimization initiatives and community forums. Working closely with Engineering, SRE, Cyber, and Operations teams across the US, UK, and EMEA, they ensure high performance, security, and reliability at global scale.

What role will you play?

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead, support, and represent a team of platform engineers responsible for delivering high-performance, resilient, and scalable multi-CDN solutions within a complex, multi-stakeholder organisation.

Your primary focus will be:

  • People leadership and team health

  • Stakeholder alignment and communication

  • Delivery ownership and prioritisation

  • Creating clarity in a fast-moving, international environment

You’ll act as a connector between engineering, product, and leadership—ensuring the team understands whythey’re building solutions, not just whatthey’re building.

In this role, you will combine strong people leadership with domain expertise in CDN and platform engineering, helping your team operate and evolve a multi-CDN ecosystem (e.g., Akamai, Fastly) that underpins critical web performance and reliability.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing, inclusive team of platform engineers

  • Own delivery and execution OKRs, roadmap alignment, prioritisation, and outcomes

  • Partner and collaborate with senior engineers and architects to deliver the Edge Delivery and multi-CDN strategy

  • Own the delivery of technical implementation for multi-CDN platforms (Akamai, Fastly), providing high-level guidance without owning detailed solutions

  • Champion a customer-first mindset, ensuring teams understand the real-world impact of their work

  • Ensure service excellence across availability, scalability, performance, and security of edge services

  • Act as a communication bridge between engineering and stakeholders across Product, SRE, Cyber, and Operations

  • Translate strategy into execution by turning business goals into clear, actionable plans

  • Facilitate collaboration and resolve ambiguity across dependencies and conflicting priorities in a matrix organisation

  • Drive operational excellence through incident management, postmortems, and continuous improvement

  • Promote standards, governance, and best practices through consistent ways of working (e.g., ITIL, Agile)

  • Enable continuous improvement via optimisation programmes and community forums

  • Manage and influence vendors to ensure strong partnerships and high service quality

What skills do you need to play your role well?

  • Proven experience leading platform, infrastructure, or engineering teams, with the ability to coach, mentor, and grow engineers at different career stages

  • Track record of delivering outcomes in fast-paced, complex environments, focusing on results rather than activity

  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, able to influence without formal authority

  • High emotional intelligence, empathetic, approachable, and confident in group settings

  • Comfort operating in a matrixed, international organisation with competing priorities

  • Ability to create alignment, clarity, and focusin complex problem spaces

  • Solid understanding of platform engineering, ITIL, and modern delivery models, without needing to be hands-on daily

  • Proactive, self-driven, and collaborative, energized by change and continuous improvement

  • Foundational knowledge of DNS, certificates, web, APIs, and networking for edge platform operations

  • Bonus expertise in web performance, traffic routing, edge delivery, and service reliability

What can you expect in return?

  • Global Impact: Work in an international environment on cutting-edge technology that scales globally.

  • People-First Culture: We care about our people just as much as we care about the stability of our platform.

  • Performance Bonuses: Earn an annual bonus based on your performance.

  • Hybrid Work: Enjoy the best of both worlds with a mix of office and home working.

  • Work-Life Balance: Flexible working hours to help you balance work and life.

  • 25 days of holidays.

  • 5 days of on-demand leave (sick days).

  • 2 days of paid community volunteering leave.

  • 1 day of paid leave for moving house.

  • Wellbeing Allowance: 18,000 CZK per year to invest in your personal wellbeing.

  • Fitness Perks: Get a fully covered Multisport card or a 950 CZK monthly contribution to a Benefit Card.

  • Meal Allowance: 225 CZK per day to keep you fueled.

  • Premium Life Insurance: Enjoy peace of mind with our premium life insurance scheme.

  • Fun Perks: Free tickets to Universal Theme Parks.
