Chicago Hub Roles

Fanatics Collect is making a strategic investment in Chicago as we expand our engineering, product, and design capabilities. We are building a small, high-impact starter pod in the area and are seeking top talent who want to help shape both our products and our Chicago presence.

Selected employees may begin in a remote capacity; however, Fanatics Collect is actively securing office space in Chicago, and in-person collaboration will be the expected way of working once the office is established. Candidates should be excited about working from the office on a regular basis as the Chicago hub comes online.

The Role

We are seeking an AI-forward Engineering Manager (TM1) to lead a cross-functional team of Web, Android/Mobile, and Backend engineers supporting the Fanatics Collect product. This role is accountable for people leadership, delivery excellence, and strong technical judgment, while fostering a culture where AI is used as a force multiplier and engineers remain fully accountable for outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, coach, and develop software engineers across web, mobile, and backend disciplines
  • Establish clear expectations, priorities, and success metrics for the team
  • Own delivery outcomes, balancing speed, quality, and long-term maintainability
  • Partner with Product, Design, and cross-functional stakeholders on planning and execution
  • Encourage responsible, effective use of AI across the software development lifecycle
  • Provide technical guidance without micromanaging implementation
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and team growth

Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum 6 years of professional software engineering experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing and developing engineers
  • Experience leading teams across multiple platforms (web, mobile, backend)
  • Strong judgment around delivery, quality, and technical tradeoffs

Preferred:

  • Experience with consumer-facing, marketplace, or real-time products
  • Experience in high-growth or fast-paced environments
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor teams in effective AI usage

The salary range for this position is 174,800-218,500, which represents base pay only and does not include short-term or long-term incentive compensation. When determining base pay, as part of a final compensation package, we consider several factors such as location, experience, qualifications, and training.
