We are seeking an Engineering Maintenance Technician II to join our Technical Services team supporting pharmaceutical utility systems and production equipment, and adhering to good manufacturing practice (GMP) regulations and best practices. This role is well suited for a mechanically-inclined individual who demonstrates strong character, sound judgment, and the capability to grow into a broader technical role. The position will support critical utility systems such as compressed air, pure water, and clean steam generation and distribution, assist with maintaining and troubleshooting production equipment, including vial washing, depyrogenation, vial filling and capping, sterilizers and parts washers, along with basic Metrology activities. The successful candidate will work under supervision initially, with increasing independence as technical skills, regulatory understanding, and overall capability develop.

This position is based in Billerica, MA and requires a presence on-site, and is open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply a safety, quality, and patient-first mindset when working in a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Support operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of pharmaceutical utility systems including WFI generation and distribution, clean compressed air, and steam generation and distribution.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and routine maintenance of production equipment
  • Work alongside experienced maintenance technicians, engineers, operations, and quality personnel.
  • Perform assigned preventive and corrective maintenance, equipment inspections, and production support activities in accordance with applicable procedures and safety expectations.
  • Document work accurately and clearly.
  • Participate in training and grow technical independence and ownership.
  • Develop and apply fundamental Metrology skills for simple calibrations, including sensors, pressure gauges, temperature probes, balances, timers, and similar instruments.
  • Provide flexible support to the Metrology team when business needs or resource constraints require additional coverage.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and internal customers to support safe, reliable, and compliant equipment operation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and the ability to advance hands-on skills.
  • Trade school, prior hands-on maintenance experience, or other relevant technical background is preferred.
  • Previous pharmaceutical, biotech, GMP, utilities, or calibration experience is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to follow written procedures, complete documentation accurately, and ask questions when expectations or requirements are unclear.
  • Willingness to learn pharmaceutical utilities, equipment troubleshooting, and calibration practices through structured training and supervised work.
  • Ability to work day or night shift schedules as business needs require.

The pay range for this position is between $23.08 and $34.13 per hour.

Actual base pay offered may vary depending on a number of factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Employees in this position are eligible for a discretionary performance-based cash incentive, and depending on the level of the role may be eligible for a discretionary annual equity award. Benefits for this position include a comprehensive health benefits package that includes medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage. Other offerings include life and disability benefits, pre-tax accounts, a 401(k) with company contribution, and a variety of other benefits.
