Responsibilities

  • Architecture Design - develop frameworks that allow smooth interaction between cloud and on-premises systems
  • Integration & Interoperability - ensure different platforms, applications, and data sources work together efficiently
  • Security & Compliance - implement robust security measures and ensure adherence to industry regulations
  • Performance Optimization - balance workloads between cloud and on-premises environments for efficiency
  • Cost Management - optimise resource allocation to reduce unnecessary expenses
  • Technology Selection - choose the right tools, platforms, and services to support business needs.
  • Create, develop, and implement solutions to address infrastructure and security requirements
  • Promote continuous and consistent delivery through automated CI/CD pipelines
  • Create plug-and-play/reusable solutions and patterns for CI/CD pipelines
  • Publish and disseminate CI/CD best practices, patterns, and solutions
  • Troubleshoot, identify, and fix problems in the DevSecOps domain
  • Develop and maintain related documentation
  • Ensure incident tracking tools are updated in accordance with established norms and processes, gather all essential data and document any discoveries and concerns
  • Identify management concerns and problems, assess them, and offer prompt solutions and/or escalation
  • Support all teams across the AMS business
  • Contribute to the evaluation, deployment and support of Engineering Environment and services using associated plugins and keep tools version and associated plugins up-to-date within the BL
  • Collaborate and communicate well with all AMS business stakeholders (local and global) by working closely with the following teams in particular: Global Engineering Environment Tools & Practices (E2TP), Australian Information Security/Information Technology (IS/IT), Australian Engineering Competence Centre (AECC), Technologies and Continuous Improvement (TCI), Thales Digital Factory (TDF), AMS product and projects
  • Leadership across the organisation
  • To assist with all multi cloud activities including cloud networking, architecture, design, DevSecOps, data engineering, visualisation and reporting
  • To perform administration tasks required for of all on-premises and Cloud environments
  • To deliver training, coaching, and to develop and maintain material related to Cloud environment
  • To participate in the relevant Tools Technical Events Boards (TEB) and Change Control Boards (CCB)
  • To keep up-to-date with evolutions in technology, processes and methodologies (DataOps, DevOps, DevSecOps, Containerisation, AWS, Azure, eTUP, Wiki corporate, Lean, Agile, Chorus2.0 etc.) which are applicable to our tools and processes and to suggest ways to incorporate these innovations into the business

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT or other relevant qualification

Essential Experience

  • Solid experience as a Solution Architect delivering cloud and on-prem solutions (7+ years)
  • Strong understanding of the entire Software Development Lifecycle
  • Comprehensive technical expertise in a variety of DevSecOps toolkits, including Ansible, Jenkins, Artifactory, Jira, Terraform, Git/Version Control Software, or comparable technologies
  • Solid experience with Azure
  • Solid experience with Linux (RedHat) and Windows operating systems
  • Scripting and programming languages (Go, Python, JAVA, Perl, bash)
  • Experienced with Infrastructure as Code, Configuration Management and Containerisation
  • System Optimisation - ability to balance workloads between cloud and on-premise environments
  • Cross-functional Collaboration - work with developers, DevSecOps teams, and business stakeholders
  • Problem-Solving & Innovation - ability to troubleshoot complex issues and implement efficient solutions.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders across a complex environment
  • Solid experience in upskilling and training new engineers
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including Project, Engineering Delivery Managers, Product Owners, Technical Design Authorities, Speciality engineers and the engineering team under management.
  • Experience in product delivery using agile methodologies like Lean methods (including PDCA, Kanban, Value-Stream Mapping). Prior experience working in an Agile@Scale framework is a bonus
  • Collaboration tools including Jira, Confluence etc.

Desirable:

  • Cloud networking skills
  • Cyber security knowledge (i.e. the latest risk assessment techniques, threat modelling approaches, cybersecurity threats, and best practices)
