Job Description

An Electrical Draftsperson Trainee is an entry-level position where you learn the skills and techniques needed to create detailed drawings and plans for electrical installations and systems. This role supports Electrical Engineers and Technologists by producing accurate technical drawings and switchboard layouts. Opportunity now available in Launceston.

Progress Control & Engineering specialise in high-quality Australian-designed and manufactured switchboards for major projects and are an electrical solutions provider across commercial building, renewable energy, mining, defense, infrastructure and transport industries.

What would this involve?

  • You would be employed by Work & Training for the duration of your training contract.
  • Full time hours & full entitlements including four weeks of paid annual leave per year.
  • You would receive mentoring and support throughout the traineeship.
  • Your workplace supervisors would provide daily coaching and opportunity for growth.

Gain skills you will be able to build upon:

  • Prepare comprehensive wiring diagrams for electrical equipment according to project objectives, design information and engineering specifications.
  • Ensure drawings are compliant to ISO-9001 regulations when required.
  • Work with Project management team to meet budgets and timelines.
  • Build strong relationships with customers.
  • Liaise with suppliers and manufactures to provide updated CAD blocks for products to ensure products are fit for purpose within the switchboard design.
  • Maintain and manage CAD libraries.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement within the workplace.
  • Communicate and implement Progress Switchboard/ Progress Control and Engineering policies and procedures.

Essential Criteria:

  • Working knowledge of computer systems.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience using AutoCAD electrical.
  • Electrical Experience

  • National Traineeship Wage applies.
