We are seeking a hands-on AI Automation Engineer to design, build, integrate, deploy, and continuously improve production-ready automation solutions for NPI Product Design and Engineering Operations. The role combines strong Python development, practical AI/LLM application engineering, and API architecture to connect engineering data, documents, workflows, and enterprise systems.

About the Role

This is a full-time engineering role reporting to the Engineering Digital Operating System Owner. You will translate approved business and engineering requirements into reliable software services, AI-assisted workflows, data pipelines, and system integrations supporting Taiwan NPI PD, the India Support Team, Vietnam PD, Architecture, Manufacturing, Quality, and IT. You will be expected to own implementation from prototype through testing, deployment, monitoring, documentation, and operational support, while partnering with process owners on architecture, governance, security, and release decisions.

We partner across Taiwan, India, Vietnam, manufacturing, quality, production, factories, and IT to reduce manual tracking, duplicate entry, waiting, rework, and Drawing/BOM/Release errors while improving engineering delivery and knowledge reuse.

What You Will Do (Job Description)

1. Build AI-Enabled Engineering Automations:

Develop maintainable Python applications, scripts, and services that automate document handling, data preparation, classification, summarization, validation, reporting, notifications, and engineering workflow activities.

1. Design APIs and System Integrations:

Design, build, consume, test, and document REST APIs and integration services. Implement authentication, authorization, validation, exception handling, retries, logging, versioning, and secure exchange of JSON-based data across engineering and enterprise systems.

1. Manage Data and Production Deployment:

Design fit-for-purpose data structures and database interactions; deploy solutions on an approved cloud platform; use source control, code review, configuration management, testing, monitoring, and release practices to make automations reliable, traceable, and maintainable.

1. Integrate Microsoft 365 and Low-Code Platforms:

Where appropriate, connect Python and AI services with Power Automate, Microsoft Graph, Copilot Studio, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Power Apps to deliver usable end-to-end workflows without forcing low-code tools to perform tasks better suited to software services.

1. Validate, Operate, and Improve Solutions:

Translate ambiguous operational problems into testable requirements, compare solution options, run pilots and shadow tests, measure accuracy and operational impact, troubleshoot failures, document support procedures, and improve solutions based on evidence and user feedback.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Must — Python: Strong hands-on proficiency in Python for backend services, automation, data processing, and maintainable modular applications, including testing, exception handling, logging, dependency management, and code documentation.
• Must — AI / LLM Frameworks: Practical experience building LLM-powered applications with model APIs and frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or equivalent. Able to implement structured outputs, tool calling, retrieval-augmented generation, prompt and agent workflows, evaluation, grounding, and safeguards.
• Must — API Architecture: Demonstrated ability to design, develop, consume, and troubleshoot REST APIs using frameworks such as FastAPI or equivalent, with knowledge of JSON, authentication and authorization, validation, error handling, retries, rate limits, versioning, and API documentation.
• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Engineering, Information Management, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Two or more years of relevant experience in software automation, AI application development, enterprise integration, engineering digitalization, NPI, manufacturing engineering, or a related technical role.
• Open-ended problem solving: Able to convert unclear operational needs into requirements, assumptions, solution options, test cases, and measurable acceptance criteria.
• Quality and ownership: Delivers usable solutions with secure coding, testing, monitoring, documentation, maintainability, and accountable follow-through from development to operational closure.
• Able to communicate technical trade-offs and work effectively with engineering users, process owners, IT, security, and global teams in written and spoken English.

Preferred and Additional Qualifications

• Good — Git / GitHub: Experience with branching, pull requests, code review, issue tracking, release tagging, and CI/CD or automated testing workflows.
• Good — Cloud Platform: Hands-on experience deploying, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting applications or services on Microsoft Azure or another major cloud platform, including identity, secrets, access control, and environment separation.
• Good — Database: Working knowledge of SQL and relational database design; experience with a document, vector, or other NoSQL database is an advantage.
• Plus — Microsoft Power Platform and Graph: Experience with Power Automate, Microsoft Graph, and Copilot Studio, including connectors, custom connectors or actions, permissions, Microsoft 365 data access, agent tools, workflow integration, and enterprise governance.
• Nice to Have — Azure Functions and Power Apps: Experience exposing event-driven or HTTP-triggered services through Azure Functions and creating practical user interfaces with Power Apps.
• Experience with SharePoint, Teams, Jira, Confluence, Teamcenter, engineering document management, Drawing/BOM/ECO/ECN/FACA/8D workflows, or NPI release processes.
• Evidence of an end-to-end project that moved from business problem and prototype to tested deployment, user adoption, monitoring, and measurable improvement.
