The assignment will provide opportunities for engagement with engineers, managers and others in different departments in the organization, and provide an understanding of some of the workings within the operating and engineering groups at FortisBC.

In this role, you will:

The work will consist of various project related assignments to the design and operation of the gas system, assisting the Electrical Engineer with:

  • Performing a wide range of complex technical functions relating to the research, location, development, design and installation of major instrumentation measurement and control communications and electrical systems.
  • Maintaining liaison with other FortisBC departments, field staff, consultants, manufacturers, contractors and government agencies concerning technical work on assigned projects.
  • Performing a variety of duties related to above projects including preparing schedules and progress reports, monitoring progress, issuing drawings, initiating correspondence, maintaining project records and files and assembling a variety of drawings, material lists, maps, survey data, photographs, environmental data and related information.

What it takes:

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering program with an Electrical focus - Third or Fourth year required.
  • Enrolled in a Co-op program.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Other Qualifications

  • A passion for the energy industry and the utility world.
  • A knack for public speaking.
  • You get your points and messages across with ease and respect so you can work harmoniously with a variety of people.
  • Know the ins and outs of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience or knowledge with CAD applications.

  • This is a full-time temporary student co-op opportunity with an 8 month term starting in September 2026.
